Warcraft II vs. C&C

Greetings all.

As a 9-week Warcraft II player, and a 4-day (yadda, yadda! ;P ) C&C player, I
really felt a need to open my big mouth now. ;>

Both are excellent tactical combat games, with great interfaces..
HOWEVER..
I'd still have to say I prefer Warcraft, cause although it has big problems
like the 9-unit control limit, and the dumbassed custom map AI, it has a whole
lot more options and feeps (if you're a MUCKer, you know what a feep is) than
C&C does.

#1. And this is the biggest for most players of both, I'm sure.. C&C doesn't
allow you to design custom maps. You can play the campaign, or you can play
multi-player, which really limits it. I know people who've finished both the
GDI & Nod missions. What do they do now? Go out & buy Covert Missions, while
my friends who've finished Warcraft just design their own new maps for free.

#2. C&C's graphics don't have the same detail that Warcraft does. Admittedly,
it's run on a much larger scale, but that's not really an excuse for the
infantry to be coloured stickmen. :P

I will give C&C high marks for it's humour, the music & SFX, IMHO better than
Warcraft. 'Daboo!' just can't measure up against blood-curdling death
screams. ;>

I find C&C a much better game design because there are different tactics
if you play different sides. For WCII, we have the exact same units on
both sides, so there really is no difference which side you play.

I agree! C & C has lots of variation, and is a great game overall. I
wished C & C had SVGA graphics though, but still their cut scenes were
much better then WC II.

Warcraft II lacks something. It's enioyable to play, but I felt in
the game with C & C, and yet I don't feel that way with WC II. The
sides are too similar....:/

I agree. C&C Has Variation, BUT in Warcraft it almost doesn't matter
if you have 2 of the same units battleing it out. It all depends on
how much upgrading you did to it.

I like both. In C&C You have different units for the two sides (NOD, &
GDI of course), and in Warcraft there are units based the same way,
but they are different in design, power, etc.
I like Both games though

I like the fog of war, but there is one problem with it. It has a bug.
You can watch the enemy chop lumber. I don't mean you see the little
guy, but the lumber disappears.

Yeah, this is true, I've found. Upgrading the armor and sword on the footmen
really make them a lot more valuable, not to mention what it does to the
knights. Upgrading the armor and cannons on the ships do wonders as well.
I've not really found the upgrade to the arrows all that impressive, however.

I think you can also watch the gold mines disapear also.

And I personnaly like C&C way more than WCII. Sure WCII has nice graphics and
C&C has not as good as WCII, but in terms of playablity C&C absolutly kills
WCII, and also the music in C&C is totally awesome when compared to WCII.

A problem with the Orcs is that you only can build a Giant Turtle in
Level 13. While the Humans can build there first Submarine in Level 7.
If you start a level from WC then the beginning is a little bit hard
but if you made that it's very VERY easy to win that level.
They should make it difficult all the time (Or make a menu where you
can choose difficulty)
