How about this: Instead of a radar system that is being discussed in this
group, how about a series of beeps or a similar sound that would get
closer together as someone got closer to you. That way, you would have a
rough idea that someone was near you, but you wouldn't know exactly how
close or in which direction they were located.

Just a thought...

I like the idea of being able to hide better.. I mean, you can still hide
with this method, but it's not as scary for the other person when you
blast them. It's much better when you completely surprise them and nearly
give them a heart attack.

This would totally eliminate ambushes!!! How about this for a
revision... Having the beeps mentioned above except only when you
opponent is moving... it would be eerie if you are following the beeps
getting closer and closer then suddenly....

     SILENCE...

wooo.. What do ya think???

Actually, that's much cooler than what I originally suggested. I think
that having it your way would be cool, since it would allow you to stay
behind a corner and wait for someone...... COOL!

I think that sounds cool, but imagine how annoying the beeps could become when
there are eight people in a single room engaging in one big dog-fight.

I'm also against anything that encourages a player to sit still and wait for a target. The redistribution of used homing missiles, etc., make it unwise to sit while your opponent(s) run around gathering power-ups. If anything, I'd like to see it slanted even more in that direction (eg: redistribute the goodies after someone dies).

How about something along the lines of a copy of everything the
destroyed person had is distributed throughout the level randomly?? It
would make the multiplay anarchy much more energetic. We already have
the limits that limit how much you can HOLD.

Plus those that die would have a chance to move up to a reasonable
attack level. More then once ive become discouraged because there is
one person who is packed to the brim and slaughters everyone and you
cant get new weapons quick enough.

ALSO maybe powerups that increase the capacity of the ship??? Time
based? So if the time runs out the extra's are dropped?? Or maybe just
till you blow up?
