Waiting for the price to come down. I've become far more
price-conscious these days and don't even look at games until they
drop below $30.

Although I may make an exception for the Witcher 3, more because I
want to support the developer's DRM-free stance than because of
anything else. I'll just tell myself it is $30 for the game and $30
for the cause ;-)

Yeah, I loved the first game and played it through several times.

I was eagerly awaiting the second and bought it the moment it came out. I
have yet to play it all the way through even once. I think it /feels/ more
like a console port than the first game.

Actually if you like tactical combat you will love Divinity Original
Sin. It has tactical turn based combat with environmental interactions.
It is a PC game through and through btw.

No, you aren't the only one, but I have been playing it since early
access when it was a bit less costly. In spite of the complaints some
have about early access, it was actually fun to contribute to the bug
list and watch as the game got developed and fixed.

I just love developing the characters in this one. I must have started
the game over a dozen times just to see how different characters reacted
to the environment...fun!The recipes for crafting & blacksmithing are
creative and combat is not always easy.

The drawback for me.....non-pc's are w-a-a-a-a-a-y too chit-chatty and
are annoying and many times can be ignored, but am enjoying the game, alot.

Latest patch(es) have addressed some the NPC chattiness interfering
wit the PC's ability to follow more relevant conversations. I too
will be buying this when the price comes down to under $30 and there's
a more extensive feature list (promised new content by the developers)
& bug-fix implementations. Anyone dabbled with the toolset yet? Now
*this* seems like the real meat of the Divinity OS retail release. If
it's easy to work with it could mean a new golden age of usermade
modules, the likes of which hasn't been seen since NWN.

Btw. good news, the game already has sold more than 160.000 copies it is
the fastest selling Larian game to date.
The break even point will soon be reached for the developers.

I liked both Witchers, but I didn't find either particularily tactical.
The only problem I had with them was the stupidly difficult early boss
fight both games had.

I probably won't get The Witcher 3 immediately, but I if I do have a hankering
that for sort of game I might not wait too long to pick it up.

As an aside the The Witcher 3 was the most popular game given out as a
prize during the Steam summer sale. Divinity: Original Sin did pretty
well at 14th.

I have yet to check out the toolset, but theoretically you could do
Ultima 7 with it, given
D:OSes enviromental interactivity which goes even deeper than the one of
the old Ultimas.

If you had a kickstarter for a U7 project I'd definitely fund you, no
questions asked.

Get to work, Werner! :)

Btw. regarding the game length. I finally have done the first map. The
first time during the beta cycle I spent 25 hours in the first map doing
it for 2/3rd. Now I spent roughly 20 hours in the first map doing it
entirely (but I knew already in most parts what I was doing and where I
was heading) so I personally think if you do not rush things, then you
have a good set of 100 hours gametime ahead of you.

Ok i am 40 hours into the game and still loving it, so much for quality
of the later chapters which are as equally good as the first one.
This is a Game of the Year candidate for me.

Just starting it and loving it. Brings back old memories.

I am 50+ hours into the game and I am loving it as well. I have played
multiple combinations of starting characters and have restarted multiple
campaigns just to see how all the different characters play. It will be
among my best all time favorite crpg's and I have been at it since my
Atari 800 days. I particularly enjoy the creativity of the
crafting/blacksmithing elements of the game. Although crafting was not
an element I have particularly enjoyed in other titles, for some reason
it appeals greatly to in DOS.

I am impressed with Larian's attention to this title. The game runs
flawlessly for me and I couldn't be enjoying it more.

It's a Steam best seller and I can understand why.

Really wish someone would do this, but with all the Ultimas. Never
really got into the ones done with the Dungeon Siege engine, highly
regarded though they may be, because I HATE that engine. But been
playing around with DLOS and find the engine fantastic. It's like an
enhanced, more efficient & powerful NWN1/2 interface. They'll have to
adapt & expand those dreary U7 battles though if someone decides to do
it. Can the D:OS engine handle day/night cycles and NPC schedules
though? Even NWN did a good job with that.

Yes it can, or theoretically should be able to. They had day and night
cycles
in the kickstarter stretch goals, but they scrapped it during the alpha
process due to time and budget pressure. They said it is really hard to
add day and night cycles to an existing game, less so if the game was
designed from ground up to handle that.

So my guess is, it can do it, but it is simply not done.

Seems like Larian has released the main campaign sources today.
This might help the modders.
