"Those are going to be rogue-only opened this time around."

Grrr. I've been using a blacksmith alt for my boxes for ages, since my
rogue is Alliance, and the rest of my main characters are Horde, and
all my old rogue friends have quit the game (interestingly all my
closest friends in WoW over the past 5-6 years had max level rogues
when they were playing). Great.

Oh well, I hadn't decided what to use my 90 boost on (hadn't wanted to
use it tbh, I like levelling), so I guess I'll be producing a fresh
rogue - got a 60 one which I used for Ravenholdt repfarm years back
but I'm not too keen on the race tbh, may as well reroll to something
else, if I can decide what. But I'm somewhat irritated by this one,
not everyone is in a large guild with tons of active rogues - I'm
betting rogues who like to be left in peace won't be much more happy
tbh :-P

Yeah half a bank tab, the initial one without bags, with stacks of keys
for the blacksmith.
I think they must have been a skill up at some time.
I hope the skillups have the 'mine a lot , make useless junk' path
again. That is the a nice fixed cost fixed time path that suits me :-)

I did a mage, and tbh the levelling although quick still took a lot
longer than just the profs. Not you just in general, get a guide
stockpile the mats, done. Pretty much 'are we there yet' rather than a
nice trip.*

Only needs to be lvl 60 and as long as profs are at 1 you get them.
Character appears in the faction city in pandaland with 600 profs.
Embersilk bags on character, not bank :-(
Has non-epic(top expensive) flying but only 2 fps in panda but you can
fly anyway.
Profs don't have extras, like a mage had no ports bought and no recipes.
No glyphs.
You do get a couple of hundred gold I think, which goes some way to the
extra kit, -some- way :-)

* A nice trip is relative.
If anyone cares this is someone else going on a little 350km or so side
trip through my home, after a few years of good rain after a 10 year
drought. Good rain being relative.

Charleville, tibooburra,packsaddle,broken hill, oodnadatta,marla bore
pretty much the same over the horizon. Dad and uncles worked on the big
fence.

This is what I do for a visit 200km for lunch then back , and I just sat
and watched the whole video mentally nodding and frowning at their
choices :-)

Skillups now are... don't bother skilling up, you can make everything
at 1 skill. Blech. Very nice for lazy people who hate professions I
guess, but for those of us who really enjoy professions and felt it a
nice minigame to skill everything to max and go hunting out rare
recipes... it sucks. Well, perhaps there's something I've not noticed
which actually has a skill requirement, but it certainly seemed as
though nothing changed in availablility between me having 1 skill in
JC and having 700 skill... oh and yeah, skillups are very fast, since
you can go 1-700 on stuff you make in Draenor.

Granted, the random drops of items that you can reconstruct to get 5
points (maxes out at 600) is a really cool mechanic, I like that! But
I don't quite get the need to make all recipes have no skill
requirement, just a nice fast levelup to 600 would've been enough.

I'm getting a little less enthusiastic about WoD now I've hit 100 and
seen the "endgame", it seems most things I enjoyed got nerfed, and
most things I didn't are being pushed - like hey, I gotta do a heap of
dungeons to unlock a garrison building upgrade which benefits
followers (who have nothing to do with dungeons). Oh and you can't
queue for said dungeons on normal at lvl 100, gotta be heroic... which
you can only queue for if you did proving grounds to silver. Awesome.
Think I'll be hoping I can solo the earlier dungeons with some decent
gear (can do Jade Temple/Stormstout Brewery alright at 90, so I guess
low 90s should be ok at 100 after a patch or two), or hoping any of my
old friends come back and are interested in duoing some (low chance, I
suspect).

Hopefully, it's still not finished, like hey, endgame isn't required
for another month yet, and I may not have seen all it has to offer;
heck, 6.1 may be pretty soon around the corner with more stuff anyway.
I'm just a bit concerned, it feels such a letdown after the incredibly
fun levelling process, which I seriously loved, can't say a thing
against the levelling zones, they're fantastic!

Sounds cool, I just need to pick a race. Hate orcs, not big on
goblins, not convinced pandas work for me as rogues, and tauren can't
be rogues. Would like a blood elf, BUT... their upgrade hasn't
happened yet, and having seen what happened to humans, who are
probably closest to them in appearance, well, I won't risk it. So,
troll (which I have at 60), or UD which would be lvl 1. Got a feeling
the troll may get a boost tbh, even though I'm not that keen on him...

Heh wow, have to say I didn't watch it all, was a bit long so I just
dipped into a few bits lol, but that looks awesome, totally different
to anything over here! Love the look of that, though perhaps wouldn't
want to break down, it seemed very very quiet in the parts I saw
anyway ;-)

Probably not too interesting but I found a half decent one of where I
grew up for a bit of a contrast:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjXBPr9oGCI - goes right past my old
house at one point, weather is a little unrealistic though, I was more
used to rain and grey skies!

No skill requirements on any WoD recipes, so far as I saw when I was
levelling a template character a couple of months back. lvl 1 skill,
oh hey, learn anything you like.

Just checked wowhead: http://wod.wowhead.com/skill=755#recipes:0+16+1
- see all those new recipes requiring skill 1? That is not a
datamining bug, they were all available when I was skill 1 a couple of
months back. Checking a bunch more professions, almost everything new
is skill 1, I've only found one enchanting, one inscription and two
engineering recipes which require over 600 skill... and given how rare
they are they're probably bugged :-/

So what actually is the point in skilling professions any more? Just
make the stuff you want, maybe reach about skill 5, reroll to another,
rinse and repeat... only reason to skill now is if you're completist
and want old recipes, even then there's no need to go past 600! I'm
not too happy with this really, I liked having to actually work on
professions, now you just get it all handed to you on a silver
platter, only gating is daily cds on making the reagents and daily cds
to get tokens to buy the advanced recipes.

I don't get it at all, they stripped all profession-specific benefits
too, so basically, you can craft a few things to sell, and that's it.
They're just utterly gutted compared with what they used to be,
complete redesign I guess but it's not one I'm too happy with.

You don't even need to *have* the profession now, except for some
cosmetic things like bags, the garrison buildings make most things,
admittedly a bit slower than actually having the professions but
still. So my main (mining/JC) will get a tailor building and be able
to run around in crafted tailoring stuff without having to buy it on
the AH/level my tailor alt... in some ways it's cool, in others it
feels wrong.

It's actually better having it not accountwide, as you're very limited
in numbers of buildings you can have at one time, at least this way
multiple alts means more buildings available, to better suit the alt
in question (for example if you pvp loads on one alt and not at all on
another, you can get the gladiator's sanctum on the pvp alt and not
bother on the other one). I currently need 7 alts to cover all
crafting professions, reckon that could be more like 2 with careful
planning of buildings, if I sacrifice some other useful buildings (I
won't, but I could). But with how professions are now, there's not
much need to have them all covered anyway... :-/

It sounds like many players will be more self-sufficient, and the
AH market in consumable crafted items will decline.

Yep, I'm wondering how the AH will be with this expansion, probably a
lot less market for a lot of items, I can see a fair drop in sales of
comsumables, for example. My main's cash cow in JC will be gone for
sure, given sockets are meant to be much rarer, yet suddenly far more
people can make gems, if they want, uhoh!

When we watch videos from Britain we just stare at the background who
cares about the story .
It is so so SO green.
Green grows on green , green growing IN the road , you can see they have
to mow it.
I bet you just plant whatever you like and it grows, no having to select
an almost ,but not quite, pretty type of native saltbush that may survive.

the grass is always greener, so they tell me ...what is grass? :-)

Hehehe the area I grew up in, 90% of the year it's all brown, no green
to be seen :-) Bit different to the rest of Britain, heather is about
the only thing that grows there. Now I live 500-odd miles further
south and it is so very different, rolling green hills, green as far
as the eye can see!

For most of Britain, extremely true, up in the Highlands, less so, my
parents have a right headache trying to find plants which will survive
in their garden. Rather exposed, very windy, salt in the air from the
sea, a lot of plants hate it and die. Very different problem to your
area, of course, but somewhat similar results (although there are some
plants which grow well, it just takes a lot of trial and error to find
them!)

>the grass is always greener, so they tell me ...what is grass? :-)

Hehehe :-D

I've heard similar sentiments from native Californians visiting the
NE parts of the US.

The deserts are dictated by the Hadley cells, they make the bands of
deserts north and south of the equator. And then add ocean currents in
the Pacific and Indian oceans and the circumpolar current.

If Western US has crop failures AND Peru drowns THEN it rains in the
north east of Australia, six months later that water has flowed down the
river and finally reaches here. I care a lot what the weather is like
in the Americas, India and Africa.
Americas and Pacific tell how far south the rain falls, Indian Ocean how
much.
That is a massive generalisation.
The USA gets hammered by extreme conditions from the north and cold
causing tornado alley and other extremes and transients.
We tend more towards slow and monotonous and long lasting crushing
boredom. The really funny thing is it rains a lot, it is just mainly all
around the continent and falls in the oceans.

If you want to see how currents move and change this is very beautiful,
and illustrates how complex weather is. Best in HD.

thanks to US taxpayers for that bit of weather pron :-)

What happens is that world conditions are such that a big high pressure
area tends to park over much of the continent and all those lows and
fronts tend to go around it.
