Warlock questions.

My main is a Holy/Ret Paladin. He levels/solos as Ret, and heals when in groups.

I recently got tired of having low dps, and started an Affliction Warlock
(Afflock?). Twinked out with enchanted hierloom gear, he's leveling pretty fast,
at 26 on the second day, and is sometimes the top dps in instances.

Questions:
1. Any really good guides out there? I think I should be doing better.

2. From the start there's been a spell called 'Trap' on his action bar, but I
can't for the life of me figure out what it's for.

thanks

1.Google wow warlock
that gives a few guides that seems to have useful information
If the DPS is high enough to avoid sniping comments then it is enough.
I don't use any particular guide just scan and compare since buffs/nerfs
change often what you are reading could well be outdated.
DPS optimsation doesn't really matter until 60+ since skills and gear
change so rapidly.

The lower level balance doesn't seem to have had much tuning effort.
There are periods when the character feels weaker than it did 2 levels
ago, another 2 levels and it may seem overpowered.
You may have little luck with only average gear upgrades then a best in
slot for that level drops, you may not even notice it is compared to 90
gear.

Or maybe it is just slower button pushing after the cup of coffee an
hour ago wears off :-)

If by 'doing better' you mean level faster you have the heirloom gear
but do you have the high level guild perks and guild BOA xp gear with
banner? [ not that I ever remember to use the banner until afterwards ]

2.a.* click it and see, mouseover should give some hint
2.b. No idea what it could be except new actions are autofilled when
learned the first seems to be weapon autoattack toggle.
What is Trap in your locale language?
Perhaps you dragged a generic icon from your editor, there are general
and character specific icons. See if one of those matches.
I know when editing a cat strike on the keyboard has inserted random
icons. Or maybe not random, I have spent ages sometimes trying to
recreate some cat input effects :-)

*Keeping in mind most of wow is a confused blur to me with character
actions mashed together and mixed with other games.

3.(rambling)I decided to convert all my bankers to warlocks as
profession slot holders because they were so easy to level even
without guild perks. Each has their own guild for the guildbanks.
Started when one that happened to be a warlock was holding BOA gear and
went for a stroll since it had the gear anyway. It was mid 20's in a
couple of hours including a couple of AH sessions.
They just burn off rested so that compensates for the guild xp perks anyway.

Can't help there I'm afraid, haven't done lowbie zones as a warlock
since Burning crusade days.

I've noticed recently, when I start a new character, it often has a
ghost spell or two on its bars, sometimes the most random things
imaginable, and nearly always things that a lvl 1 has no access to.
Seems to be a glitch somewhere, I have no idea if it's an addon (but
my bf had the same glitch on an alt the other day and I think our only
common addons are Deadly Boss Mods and Auctionator... he may not even
have had those enabled) or a Blizzard side bug, but it happens to me
too. If it's kinda greyed out and doesn't do anything when you press
it, just drag it off the bars, it'll be a bug.

Icy-veins.com. You dont really have a rotation when you play afflic as
its all about keeping your dots up while spamming malefic grasp (until
20% health).
Afflic and destro are two specs that are easy to learn and difficult to
master. :)

Sounds odd. Sure you havent rolled a hunter? ;)

Most guides are written with max level in mind; off the top of mt head,
I don;t know of any for low-to-medium levels.

Basically, keep all your dots up on the target and use a filler spell in
between the dots. At max level the filler spell is maelific grasp, but
I'm not sure that's available at your level. Maybe drain life? It used
to be shadowbolt ages ago, but I believe that's only for demonology now.

Was it there when you first created the character? If so, then I have no
idea. Otherwise, perhaps it was a usable item from an early quest?

When you mouse over it, what does the tooltip say?

That's more or less what I figured - the filler now seems to be Drain Life to
20%, then Drain Soul, at least at my level.

I use icy-veins, but as you and others say, it's for max level. I was wondering
if there were any lock-specific sites.

I find I do great in instances, unless there's a lot of well separated mobs
to fight simultaneously. I can top the chart if I'm either fighting a single
boss, or a large number of mobs in a tight bunch (atm I have one AOE damage
spell).

With my enchanted heirlooms, I tend to use only drops for the other slots; I'm
simply levelling too fast to go back to the AH frequently. Thus my other slots
are frequently a bit lower than they could be.

One specific question I have: I'm using a two handed staff (Scholarly
Headmaster's Charge w Jade Spirit). Alternatively, I could use a dagger and
an offhand. Any opinions? I can get a heirloom dagger, but I'd have to use
regular offhands.

It was there when I created the character.
It's called 'Traps', has a little net icon, and a number (0).
The tooltip says 'Traps. Set a trap for unwary foes'.
It's not in my spellbook. Others have suggested it's a glitch, and I
expect that's the case.

There's a warloock site at http://wowmb.net/forums/ which I used to
use, however it's pretty quiet and there's no saying it's got any
levelling info anyway - I usually find while levelling that trial and
error is the way to go :-)

I normally use whatever I have to hand; it doesn't make a whole lot of
difference at that level I'd say! You can compare the stats between
the two, or just use what you've got; it'll still be better than
pretty much anything else anyway :-)

Sounds like the hunter traps ability (pretty sure it's one of those
extending multi-spell icons, like the warlock pets summoning one), so
in that case it'd definitely be a glitch :-)

Thats about it. Dots, malefic grasp/drain life to 20% and drain soul.
That will be your most used at 90 as well.
The problem is that mobs and bosses in low-level instances dies so fast
so you will never get athe real feeling of your spells and rotations.
It gets better when you do instances in cata and pandaria though. Some
of the bosses in normal instances actually feels like an everlasting fight.

Have you considered Blizzard's own class-specific foras?

You can buy a heirloom offhand in SW. But the staff is fine.

Oh well. Yesterday when I did Ordos another afflic lock did 920k dps on
him. I just checked his ilvl which is 561. Just 4 points above my
lock. I think its time to respec. :)

That's basically why I picked an Afflock. I leveled my Pally as Ret during BC,
which was an exercise in patience. ATM, I'm up to level 34, and not trying too hard. I can certainly solo any questing boss with ease.

920k on a single mob? That's... unbelievable. I have no idea how that's
even possible.

All dots up, _all_ kinds of procs at the same time, hero, trinkets etc,
refresh dots, be happy. I havent done the math. But I guess its all
about luck and skills.
I tried it on a dummy in 5.3 when I got my hands on the Lei-Shen trinket
(LFR version) and after a few tests it gave me some really nice numbers.
But its all about luck with procs and timing and I decided to stick to
destro spec.

Also bear in mind it's on Ordos, so having one of the isle shrine
buffs can make a huge difference, quite possibly the 25%
crit/haste/mastery buff, I know that one vastly improves my kill speed
on elites as a priest, at least.

Still insane numbers though, I don't get how people get so high, saw a
500k one on the Valentine's boss the other day, seemed insane enough
to me (no matter how I try, I can't break 100k, granted on lesser
geared characters but still - priest can do 90-95k on a short fight,
shaman can do 85-90k, that's as good as it gets for me). I know
there's gear inflation and stuff but how in the hell have we gone from
20-30k freshly dinged at the start of the expansion to 500k+ now?! No
wonder that squish is needed...

Oh yes. the Chi-Ji buff is SO nice for spellcasters!

Short after 5.3 went live I did the daily HC dungeon run. A shadow
priest from another realm dids 1.2M dps on one of the bosses (very very
short fight hehe...). He told us it was the Lei-Shen trinket that made
this number possible due to the procced 4 sec 100% crit.
I normally peak at 1M-1.5M dps in burst on my arcane mage (562) at the
start of the fight when I do one of the worldbosses. But it has always
faded out to ~350k dps when the fight ends. I wish more hardcore
players would join those fights for comparisons. But they usually never
attend at those bosses as they have similar or better gear than the
worldboss drops.

Recount has a live graph option that shows you the actual DPS. Its
quite interesting to see the burst of all players including your own at
the start of a fight.

It's amazing :-) When I first hit Timeless isle, in less gear than I
have now, it made the difference from killing elites being a bit of a
struggle, to being ridiculously easy. Now they're no struggle, but
it's tons faster with that buff, easily the best of them for me :-)

Wow, some nice numbers there! I only see overall fight figures and I
know mine won't be high, since my best-geared character is a healer
(that said, Disc does plenty adequate dps for my needs, and I can
usually outdps a few low-geared dpsers when I put my mind to it :-)),
and two of my three dps characters are melee (I struggle with melee
dps, fun as it is to play solo, I hate having to get a compromise
between not standing in bad and actually being able to keep hitting
the boss...), and all three are in Timeless Isle gear only. Still find
my mind boggles at how much it's inflated over the course of the
expansion though... no matter how you look at the figures, high-geared
people are doing minimum 10x if not 20x as much dps as newly-dinged at
90. Insane!

>Recount has a live graph option that shows you the actual DPS. Its

Heh, sounds pretty cool indeed, Skada hasn't got that option (think it
counts dps different too, since when I was thinkint 25-30k was normal
at the start of MoP, people using Recount considered 40-45k as
"normal", can't imagine every single group I ever joined was full of
crap people, so i guess it counts a bit lower!), I may try Recount
again sometime, found it was a bit of a memory hog in the past though.
Supposedly my pc should have no trouble with WoW, given I've replaced
everything in the last year or two, but I do still struggle in big
fights with tons of aoe - not badly, but enough that I can notice it,
so I try not to make things worse! (my eyes seem sensitive to lower
fps, most people wouldn't notice a drop to 40 fps, I guess, but to me
it feels horrible and jittery, need it at 60+!)

You may well have already got a quest to look for celestial shrines;
if not, they're what look like weird stones dotted around the island,
which become clickable every few minutes (ofc if tons of people are
there on your server it may be a little hard to find a clickable one,
as one person using it puts it on cd for everyone!). Click one and you
have a chance to get one of four buffs (or just nothing), one for each
of the celestial spirits. Chi-Ji gives the 25% crit/haste/mastery one
which I like best, Yu'lon's buff is 20% all primary stats, Xuen's is
+dmg (I think 20-25%, can't remember for sure, I hardly ever get it)
and Niuzao's is dmg reduction (can't remember the %)

If you want to find rares more easily I recommend the RareCoordinator
addon btw, gives times since each was last seen (most respawn 30-60
mins after last kill, some are longer but you soon learn which;
Golganarr is the obvious one!), and handy mouseover maps so you know
where to look. To kill rares you really have to be there before they
spawn, as they die really really fast, only ship, Evermaw and
Golganarr seem to have enough health to let you travel more than a few
yards to them!

My pally in his ret offspec (535) can just barely break 100k on a dummy
on a good day. This is a massive improvement from the 25k or so he got
before I went to some effort to gear him, and switched from wow-heroes'
suggested configuration to icy-vein's.

My afflock just dinged 45 (halfway!). In instances, he shines on bosses
where the fight is long enough to dot them up, and when there are many tightly
packed mobs for Rain of Fire. In those circumstances he's either top or second
dps. He sucks if there are 2-3 mobs that have to be switched between, or one
which dies so fast the dots don't have time.

He's still in hierlooms plus drops/quest rewards only. He's moving ahead fast,
and I see no need to waste gold on stuff that will be outdated in a couple
hours of play.

It's amazing how fast he's moving now compared to when I was leveling my main
through the same zones in BC. Also, most instances at this level are completed
in under 30 minutes, compared to hours the first time around. I'm not finding
long waits either, at this level.

Same here with my monk/538 and kitty druid/543. Monk maybe does 120k on
a dummy on a good day and my kitty does 120-160k dps. The difference
between 535 and 562 is like night and day.

although the xp isn't linear and is boosted up to 85 anyway
Lvl 1-5 is a minute, if you just start flailing
     1-10 is only
60-70 progress per hour approximately halves
  half again for 80-85
and about 1/4 on for 85-90
...roughly, depends how much you push

Even at 85-90 an affliction warlock can just breeze quests, even most of
the quest bosses. I can't say much about instances, they are much more
gear dependant and of course not solo.

Take for example sha of despair.
Warrior really despaired on that one, died once, reset endless times
before it finaly fell. Lots of potions and bandages later.
It comes up to the stairs now and has a knockback so resets, also none
of the adds would come near in about 20 tries.
Granted some of the tries were short until it found a postage stamp
sized nook to keep mostly out of aoe and not get knocked.

The lock just nuked it first try. Of course the warriors experience
helped but it hardly got to do the annoying phases and was at full
health at the end.

Near there is a pretty bad elite, for the level. Massive aoe, pretty
much 3 shots melee, particularly if it walks up behind you before you
realise what its abilities are. Dead in a couple of seconds. Next try so
very, very close with a lot of frenetic action but still no prize.

http://www.wowhead.com/npc=50388#comments

Warlock also happened to be questing nearby, fresh from nuking sha of
despair. Just nuked it on sight 2,3,4,1,1,1,1,6,7 repeat and sent the
legs to the warrior for the use of its skeleton as a place marker and
the pointers on the sha :-) not a scratch.

And we won't even mention the difference on the white tiger, shudder.

9 days in and my lock is at lvl 64. Dungeons with quests now give about
3/4 of a level of xp. I realize plenty of people have gone faster, but I'm
pretty comfortable. I haven't seen a quest mob I can't take down without
trouble - I've died in non-instances only a couple of times when I was
hit by several mobs at once - I'm still learning to use my defensive
cooldowns.

In instances, I find I can top dps charts when AOEing down 6+ mobs, and I can
do very decent damage to bosses who take a while to bring down. But when
there's only a few of mobs to deal with, or single non-bosses, my dps is
pitiful - the lock's damage is all back-loaded, you set up dots first, and
they don't do much until you use some other specific spells. As a result, the
mobs are dying to the other players before I can do much.

Well, today my afflock dinged 70, 11 days from start. Dungeons with quests now
give only around half a level. At lvl 68 I did some quests pugging with a lvl 73
Ret Pally, who'd been away for a year. I pretty well matched his dps.

Another data point; at 70, each run of Utgarde Keep gave me around 200k xp,
without quests, but with the 45% xp bonus from guild and heirlooms. That's
25% of the level; four runs and I dinged 71 in less than 2 hours.

That is still a lot faster than it used to be.
I think you also get a general xp increase as well until 85.

I don't do instances much but just questing at 80+ I could get a level
in 2-3 hours played time, tending towards 2 hours more than 3.
Thats a guestimate but fairly close I think,I was levelling profs and
a lot of other ingame stuff.
*BUT* that is levelling 4 at a time so all had a good quantity of
rested and I rotated to make sure they were using rested as much as
possible. I didn't mind spending a lot of time on pokemon and tourism
and exploring the lore on one char knowing the others were accumulating
virtual xp :-).

The main drag is doing quests that are more rep and lore and back and
forth rather than actual reward. The first char spends time
finding/remembering them the rest just take the highway. That would be
much slower overall for a single char.
I am not saying quests are better, do whatever you enjoy, it is all
heavily accelerated. With dungeons you will hit 90 ready geared for
endgame, for me endgame is really end-of-game, a broken bridge, a
highway that ends in a thousand goat tracks up a tall mountain :-).

BTW, that's a 55% bonus, not 45.

I'm just pushing one character through, so each morning he has a few bubbles
of rested XP to enjoy, but the rest is not rested. As I related in 'the
readers digest' thread, I wind up a lot; in fact, in Outland, I hit only
BP, Zangarmarsh (briefly), Terokaar, and Nagrand, moving on to Northrend as
soon as I dinged 68. In each of those zones I skipped more than
half the quests, (maybe not Nagrand, which I like).

Yeah, a person's first char is a special case. Also, I was leveling through
BC with a ret paladin, which turns out to be godawful slow.

I'm mainly trying to get a decent dps toon for my guild. Afflocks seem to do
well in raids, though its been suggested that destro is better for leveling
in crappy gear.

Wut? Destro for leveling?!? I will recommend afflic for leveling at
any time. Send in void tank, dot mobs, pick your nose, loot, profit.
Literally. I leveled my lock without any deaths until I got too cocky
and pulled a pretty large group of mobs somewhere in outland around
level 65 or such. ^^

All three specs are equally good for leveling now.

whereas f2p has 'experience potions' for like $1-2 a level wow has rare
spawns that have even rarer drops for the same thing.
[ a.k.a I like this game so much I am willing to pay not to play it :-) ]

Anyway if you want to rest for a week and hunt spawns it could work out
quicker , but probably not if it is camped.
Worth a look maybe. And you get rested while checking it anyway :-)

I think the $60 straight up would be a better strategy if it happens.

Anybody know if there is a profession equivalent?
Just for the record.
Not that I would farm it and not that it matters if you just want to
spend a few thousand gold. Mostly on those 1 skillup and 1 mat short
moments, which really shouldn't matter but yet...they do.

I have to say that I'm growing very fond of my voidwalker :-). It's *such*
a difference from a ret pally.

The argument seemed to be that afflic locks at endgame require trinket procs;
without the items they lose a lot of dps.

Notwithstanding, my experience has been as you describe, and I'm not very
motivated to change.

What I don't have is up-front burst damage. It takes several global cooldowns
before my damage on an individual mob takes off, and in an instance, the mob
is usually near-dead by then. I look a lot better on bosses, and my rain of
fire is very effective when there is a large group of tightly packed mobs.

True. My guild did MSV on 10N and at Elegon the guild begged me to
respec *away* from afflic. Because when the charges appeared and moved
to the edge of the platform I simply couldnt kill them fast enough so I
caused some wipes there. I wasnt Mr. Popular at that time. When 5.1
went live I started fiddling with destro and now I cant go back to
afflic. :)

Interesting. I had no idea about that item. The Wowhead page has some
interesting strategies for stretching its use.

I currently have a 55% boost from heirlooms and the guild buff. There's also
two 10% buffs (which don't stack) from DMF, which starts next week. I'll have
to try to use those. There's also a 5% fishing contest heirloom ring, but how many accounts have that? Monks can also get a 20% boost from Enlightenment
(my lock is a gnome).

With this potion, and resting, you might be able to approach 10x exp for
killing mobs, less for quests.

Yeah but getting it is the problem, more prior planning before
levelling and a waste below say 83.
Certainly worth recruiting some guildmates for an hour once you have
one to level with. One specific objective, keep me alive *please*
limited time involved, people like specifics.

If camped by others at all it isn't even spend two hours to get 5-10,
probably more like spend 5 hours to get 5-10, maybe.
I was just search for xp items and up it popped, picks jaw off floor :-).

I am currently drooling over a pvp staff with spell power, I think this
is the one
http://www.wowhead.com/item=44095/grand-staff-of-jordan
and there is an 85 upgrade. Nggg, but I hate pvp. If wow ever gets an 'I
win' button it will require grinding 2000 hours in battlegrounds
Oh wait, there is, but it is a dozen small purple buttons that combine
to make one very big very blood red button :-)

I am converting bankers to warlocks for profession slots so probably
worth it with 3 or 4 to level up eventually. Level first with lvl 25
guild then get their personal guildbank and retire from battle.

There are a lot of other boa around, its is more a matter of time vs
effort to get them and time they are used. Just getting rested and
remembering to banner can do the same thing.

rambling:
On the other hand I spent $1000 on the cat since christmas, maybe I
should just wait and level up for $ and keep the cat indoors for a
couple of weeks . It isn't like it is even my cat, despite what the cat
thinks I just pay for it feed it and take it to the vet...OMG I own a
cat That was my other jaw dropping epiphany last week :-)

Yeah
it is embarrasing at lvl 15 in ragefire all the rest had run speed
enchants so all I got to do was loot and try to get to the next battle.
I only did about 10% of total damage, run run run, corruption, wind up
affliction or shadowbolt, dead before it hits ,run run run.
Now mostly I just rain of fire and loot, no time to dot or fire off
anything unless it is a boss. That will change.

Out in the world the voidwalker is king, I mostly die when taking
shortcuts and getting unhorsed with too many mobs. Briarthorn, gimme
briarthron, no, thats a pack of worgen, thats a bad thing, must stagger
to somewhere safe, byebye void.
Soulstone, call void, 'I don't like this place'..cracks me up :-)

In the other message I agree
BUT some melee really -really- object to having it filling their screen,
and also a big blue thing blocking their view so if they can
live(literally :-) with single target slow start dots that barely tick
and channeled drains plus bolts from the imp thats their call.
Of course they are also the ones usually posting recount lists in lvl
25 dungeons , oh thats me right down there :-)

I am also just generally not very good at this, slow reactions and bad
fingers, but in this case it is a large part deliberately not trying
everything possible to increase dps.

If it was just about 15% slower it would be fine, but then people would
complain and I would just want it slower still.
People complain as a tank I am tentative and quite slow, you can't win ,
someone will bitch so I try to make sure I get my POV in first :-)

In instances I switch to imp - after all there's a tank to (try to) keep mobs
off me.

I set up a second destro spec today, with new glyphs, but the same gear.
Still learning to play it, but the dps is noticeably higher.

Well, my lock just hit 80, so I'm approaching end-game. I've spent about 8k on
him so far, mostly on flying training. At 80, I probably did about 1000g in
AH upgrades of the non-heirloom stuff.

Destro has proved very successful for leveling. I also found that the Voidwalker
can be exploited by pvp jerks to flag me <grumble>.

Yeah, players make the game, other players go out of their way to
break the bliss.
I got dual and went destro, and then just couldn't bear to play for 3
days after ...an event, couldn't even bring myself to logon an AH.
Same thing happened when my sub was due, took 3 weeks until the itch
grew strong enough to resub. That and the mail in the mailbox would have
expired, OMG I am going to lose virtual gold and pixels.

I really loathe wow pvp, all of it not just the getting tricked, yet I
don't mind at all (well..much :-) getting snipered 20 times in a row in
planetside.

There is a vendor in the first inn in Hyjal, but you probably know that.
Also in pandaland there is a vendor an -easy- ride from the first hub.
There is also a seller, through the tunnel in the highlands , the
white tiger zone, but their gear is similar to later four winds and
Kraserang drops. Also as a warlock with a personal tank you can drop
most of the rares on sight. Particularly 85+ , better gear and special
drops you can continue to use this expansion.

A general note on gear, you can can probably get the expense back if
you bother to AH drops.
Most of the gear that sells well is Cata gear useable on 77-78, panda
gear useable on 83-84, then it is just slot fills.
Anything panda but 83+ that replaces heirloom slots, particularly head
and back guild xp gear, sells well. Except mail, unspectacular mail may
as well de/vendor on sight. Useable 83-84 add 20g,2 stat add 20g, 4 stat
subtract 20g. Sell mostly on Friday night for 48hrs, better chance of a
sale at any price then. No guarantees, norefunds for free advice :-).

Someone always sells for 400g, I prefer 75g, they drop easily and I
work on volume, I hope never to see it again. If the high seller buys
mine thats fine with me :-)

I feel lucky not to be able to make that comparison. Once I realized what
was happening, I kept the pet on defensive unless I needed it.

I checked him out - found one int trinket that was an upgrade. The rest was
useless.

Yes, I'll check them out. Of course, I'm not replacing anything that gives an
XP boost while it continues to do so.

I've been incurring costs on the lock due to leveling quickly. My main usually
has more gold that he has use for, so this hasn't been that big a deal. I'm
not going to waste a lot of time playing AH games.

Can I have your spare gear then ? :-)

Most don't play,
the AH couldn't really work anyway if everybody posted everything so it
is only profitable from low supply. 10,000 chars, 50k items, not a lot
of items per char, and a lot are single gems etc.

If everyone played the AH with every item the economy would disappear to
fees in a week or two.
So you are keeping the game alive by not using the AH :-)

Time is money, literally since all gold comes from loot drops, quests
and vendoring those drops. AH doesn't make gold, it is a gold sink with
fees so I 'make' 100g, someone somewhere spend some time grinding
something and it probably started out as 500g before it got through all
the sinks to my covetous hands.

Dinged 85 today. 84->85 took under 3 hours, in Uldum + instances.

Now the the hard part starts.

Instances all the way. :) I did all the quests in jade and a handful in
the valley. When I hit 88 I went straight to townlong steppes.

Harder but more rewarding
Like many things if you are lucky the last 5% is only 80% of the effort,
and 95% of the profit. If you are unlucky it is 1/99/1.

As I said in another I just got dual on a levelling warlock and tried
destro again.
And found out why it seemed weak when going 80-90 on the other one.
Relative balance changes anyway with levels and new skills but there was
another reason.

Coming back after a long while everything was new, everything was reset 8
sets of specs to set , lots of things to buy , chars to level,
professions to level , a week to do it in.
I forgot to assign glyphs and talents on the destro one, so it seemed
weak and I didn't go back until just now.
The affliction was glyphed for destro, and destro had no glyphs or
talents. I think maybe I thought I changed to destro, probably got
distracted and came back and set up destro on the affliction warlock.
Both were underpowered, and still blitzed through.

Another DOH! moment :-)

Just adding that at this level, there's lots of good BOP gear
in the AH, but my main has gathered a full set of Timeless
cloth for him. No Burdens, unfortunately, but this lock will
be raid-ready soon after he dings 90.

Which is the way it should be - the player already knows how
to raid.

<checks> No, they're BoP, sadly.

I actually dinged 89 last night before I went to bed, but I don't think
I'll be able to play today, and possibly not tomorrow. I hope to ding 90
by Thursday evening at latest. That about 3.5 weeks, calendar time. I
suspect that if I did nothing else, I could do it in under a week.

I leveled my shammy in 2 weeks only because that class is so easy to
level with heirlooms.
My rogue - also in heirlooms and all enchants - just hit 58 while she
was in BRS a few mins ago and she is on her third week now. the dps is
just much lower and the rotation is a bit complicated compared to an ele
shammy. Well. I did fine DPS in BRS as I decided that I had the time
to test with single-target dots on groups of mobs before I enabled
Flurry Blades and aoe-stabbed them. And actually it got better and
better through the instance. But geeez... I need a 500 button keyboard
for that class. It was fun though. :)

I just hit 60 and got my flying license 10 mins before server shutdown
here in EU after a fail run in BRS and some heavy exp farming in
hellifre peninsula. :) I spent 4 hours on that...

What I always do once I hit 89 is drop everything and head to Dread Wastes. The xp per quest is double rest of Panda Land so 89 goes faster then 86-88 did(for
me anyway).

Yeah. One of my policies has been to abandon zones the moment a higher one
became viable. Almost all the quests I've been doing show as yellow or orange.
This results in a *lot* of abandoned quest lines.
