It's *such* a difference from a ret pally. The argument seemed to be that afflic locks at endgame require trinket procs; without the items they lose a lot of dps. Notwithstanding, my experience has been as you describe, and I'm not very motivated to change. What I don't have is up-front burst damage. It takes several global cooldowns before my damage on an individual mob takes off, and in an instance, the mob is usually near-dead by then. I look a lot better on bosses, and my rain of fire is very effective when there is a large group of tightly packed mobs. pt
