I was playing an IPX game today and got surrounded by Steel lords or Blood Warriors, (big steel guys) and they killed me but when i restarted in town (from level 13) to get my stuff I still had all of it. I know this is suppossed to occur on level 16 but how about level 13-15? -- Silverlock Household Pests? The SW-404 'SpitFire' APRL cleansing system will remove them, we Guarantee IT! It happens every once in a while. Can't tell if it's a bug or a feature, but it's nice when it does happen. Normally, you drop stuff when killed on any level but 16. Happened to me last night in an IPX game. I think I may have pkilled myself if that's possible. I have a new character, a 23rd level sorcerer, and he fireballed a creature that was swinging at him. His health was full but mana shield was off. He has about 60 hit points and he died instantly. My guess is that the collateral damage from the fireball affected him. It was just a damn nightmare level skeleton that hit him. Not sure what the what the criteria, but at one point I thought it was the speed you entered restart-in-town. Quit trying when I hit new-game by mistake.... boy it really sucks to loose everything. What I would give for a confirmation "Are you sure you want to leave 35K gold and 10 great items on when you leave Mr 37 lvl sorc? It will take you weeks to get all the stuff back....naw well just go anyway....bye" Not to mention the cost of a new monitor when I put my fist thru it....(just kidding).

This happened to me, I was in the catacombs and I walked into my firewall. When I restarted I had all my gear and money. I went back down and cleared out everything and found my ear.

There is no such thing as collateral damage TO THE CASTER. So must have been the swing from that skeleton. 60 hp in Nightmare is easily overcame by anything. I'd like to think I could do that but the only time I ever die is
1. Surrounded by monters, getting hit, can't get any spell off.
2. Take a whopper hit that knocks me below my mana shield, with only
94 hps its usally over the next hit.
3. Townkilling low life scum.
In all these situation I couldn't ready a suicide spell in time.
BTW what spells do you keep ready?
My level 33 mage does the following
f5 = Fireball
f6 = Chain Lighting
f7 = Gaurdian or Stone Curse
f8 = Teleport

I have a 38 level mage: f5 - appocalypse staff (for total emergencies) f6 - fireball f7 - chain lightning f8 - teleport when i play with a strong warrior, i sometimes take out chain lightning (too easy to kill another player) and replace with stone curse or heal other. L35 Mage
Mana Shield
Fireball
Chain Lightning
Lightning
If something hits me real hard and I lose my mana shield, I quick use a
full mana potion and F5-ready my mana shield. Fireball and Chain
Lightning are obvious... I use regular lightning against single enemies
like a soul burner if I can't get close. Otherwise I just use my sword
(~70 damage, 190% to hit). I don't use stone curse much (yet) simply
because I have found that it is only useful against single enemies,
which I can usually hack away at with my sword.

It's just a more spectacular show. I had 150k once, a quarter of the screen was filled with monsters, and when I died, some of my stuff flew past the bottom of the screen. :)

I think you still drop everything, it just falls in farther locations, making it even more difficult to get everything back.

My lvl 35 Warrior (Cobra):
F5=Heal or Teleport
F6=Fireball, Lightning, Stone Curse, or Guardian
F7=Chain Lightning
F8=FireWall
My lvl 18 Mage (Masada):
F5=Nova or Apocalypse Staff (stone curse if I have no charges left)
F6=Guardian
F7=Chain Lightning
F8=Fireball or Teleport (when I get it <g>)
They're all pretty variable though. The only one I really almost
never change is the F7 chain lightning. The only time I change that
one is when just about everything on the current level is lightning
resistant or immune.
Cobra/Masada

I have found one spell on the fourth page: Bone spirit. It's expensive, but when you hit with it, it takes 1/3 of the target's hit points. Would be nice to know whether it takes 1/3 of the max hp of the monster each time (so that 3 hits would kill) or whether it takes 1/3 of remaining hit points each time (assuming no minimum amount of damage, you'd never be able to *kill* anything with this spell). The fourth level spells are as follows: Nova golem teleport apocalypse bone spirit blood star x You cannot obtain a book of apocalypse or nova, but you can tell their respective positions in your spellbook by equiping staves which allow you to cast those spells. You can occasionally get a book from Adria (sp?). Kinda looks like a proton
torpedo from Star Trek. And fireballs do more damage comparably, though Blood
Stars do magic damage. Also, I think the damage done is related to how much
"Magic" stat you have, but I'm not certain.
