Pardon another penny fling on my part, but I think that I would much rather
see something like a zooming in or out for scale differences between towns
and the world rather than just the sudden jump of "entering" a town. If
done properly and well, zooming would serve the exact same purpose and
maintain a greater continuity.

I disagree. One of my favorite things to do in Ultima is wander around
the forest or desert and stumble upon neat things that have nothing to do
with the main plot. You wouldn't be able to do this in a wide view. I
would prefer keeping the Ultima 7 view and just making the actual world
about a thousand times bigger. a hundred?

Big time ditto.

I've got a couple more ideas:
Allow us to play the music, without haveing to play the game. I really like
the Ultima 8 music, and wouldn't mind being able to play that music in the
background whilst doing something else.

Don't use digitized actors. The reason I say this is because of the extra
space used. I played the Under a Killing Moon demo last week was very
impressed, but the demo is 180 megs. You'd think that with 180megs of demo
it would massive, huge right? It is really small though, showing about 2
minutes worth of scenes, then allowing you to mess around in an alley. You
can only talk to one person, with varying conversation paths. So what's the
point I here you ask? The point is this, if the world in Ultima 9 is going
to be huge, and have heaps of people to speak to, numbers approaching that
of U7 & U6, using digitized actors is going to eat up alot of CD's.

Also how about climbing mountains like in Ultima 5. With a grappling hook,
it would be awesome.

I like the idea of zooming and I like the idea of having little "lost
items" here and there in the wilderness. So how about making the whole
world the same scale and let the user zoom when ever they want. Also make
the zoom a "zoom" of space and time, so when you are on the normal map
one step takes one unit of game time. When you zoom to the 2x map one
step on the 2x map is the same as 2 steps on the 1x map and it takes 2
time units. With the ablity to zoom on the fly you can walk around town
to where you have to be without wasting the gamers time.

Check out Lucas Arts Tie-Fighter, it has a time multiplyer in it. If you
zoom time and space seperatly that would work as well.

I remember when SSI released Azure Bonds for the Apple, and it was "so
big" that it took 8 floppies, and if you go far enough you had to change
the floppy for the next section of the map. I also remember an Ultima
for Apple where the towns were on one disk, underworld on another,
dungeons etc.... Over all there was one floppy for each important section
of the world. Well lets bring back the good old days of disk swapping,
lets push the tollerance of the game fans.

MAKE ULTIMA 9 AN 8 CD GAME!!!

hahahaha <evil laugh>

If U9 is a good game that brought bake the fun of U4-U6, if U9 broght
back adventure and the role playing of the avatar of virture, and if the
disk swap came at moments that I could prepare for like new continents or
major cities then I would swap 8 CD's

(But I would grump a little)
