Hi I reverted back to UFO,last night after quite a while. I spent 8 hours addicted to it... glad to say I'm still alive, with 3 bases, though a couple of my teams got wiped :-( Not being negative, I can't really see a remake of this game would be needed, for it's quite perfect. I see though addition patches would be great! I look forward to X-com 6 with a smile. Lee 100% ZX Spectrum editor

I played Xcom nearly every waking hour for two weeks. Damn! That was a fine vacation although my neck hurt and my eyes watered like hell from looking at a glowing screen in a dark room all day. :-) > Not being negative, I can't really see a remake of this game would be > needed, for it's quite perfect. SVGA graphics, easy user customization, native Windows interface (GODS but I loathe DOS!), base game speed adjusted for the processor speed, trashing that damnable 80-item limit to the 10th pit of hell from which it oozed, other bug fixes, improved interactivity with the environment (barns collapse after the lower floors get blaster-bombed), eye candy like cut scenes of researched technology and plot advancement. Just about everything about the squad combat of the original works for me (and in fact I'd consider it sacrilege to mess with it TOO much), but I wouldn't mind an expansion in the interception department. Really, I'd consider it as a perfect opportunity to apply general improvements to the game as a whole in the same manner that Civilization2 improved on the original Civilization. An EVolution rather than REVolution. -- Duane VanderPol: dua...@earthlink.net or dua...@aol.com Castle of the Glowing Sky: http://home.earthlink.net/~duanevp/index.html "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards for they are subtle and quick to anger" - Tolkien "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" - Clarke

<snip> >6?? umm what happened to 4 or 5? </snip> X-COM 4 is Interceptor (space combat... sorta like a sim --- or is it?) X-COM 5 is Alliance (first person shooter using the Unreal engine)

Hi, To be honest, if you are making that many changes, should it be incorprated into XCom 6 instead? The thing is NOT to lose the present-day or near-future time setting, the general unfolding of the storyline, etc. I absolutely despised TFTD with the underwater theme and Apocalypse did nothing for me either. The far-future setting was all wrong, the troopers were too small onscreen, the aliens were just "bugs" and not tied to the present-day myths of aliens as presented in UFO. Sticking close to the original in that respect is a must for me - so if you want to call it Xcom 6 after all the updating or Xcom Gold, or whatever, so long as the original game still shines through at the core of it I'll bite.
