TFTD remake

Hi!
I'm new here so I don't know if there was earlier some topic like mine.
Do you know if there is any remake of TFTD? I saw some Xenocide, AI and
others, they're great looking, but they're remakes of the first Ufo:EU. My
adventure with x-com started (and finished) by TFTD. I loved it since the
first time I've seen it. Apocalypse hadn't had that creepy mood for me.
TFTD was dark, creepy'n'scarry. Others I didn't even try.
Thats why I'm looking for some underwater remake of x-com...
Maybe you know such?
Oh, one more. Do you know some good games which action is settled
underwater? I'm not talking about simulators of past or present
submarines. It doesn't have to be earth vs aliens also. Some game in
(maybe You've seen it) 'seaquest' mood, or... there was a movie, but I
don't remember english title... [there was a scene where scientists
discover the fluid which could be a substitute for oxygen in our lungs, it
was pink.... and there were some underwater, shiny aliens too (!)]
ok, enough of it :D

best regards too everyone!

The movie you're thinking of is called "The Abyss"

After completing version 1.0 of Xenocide, we plan to combine UFO and TFTD
for v2.0. We had originally intended to combine both games in the first
place, but decided it would be easier to just focus on UFO first.

Subwar 2050, Sub Culture and Archimedean Dynasty are probably exactly
the kind of games you are looking for. They're a bit like underwater
space sims.

TFTD did not implement underwater combat very well. A TFTD remake should
use that super oxygenated liquid stuff along with pressurised armour
advances to allow missions at greater depths. It should also be darker
the further down you go. There should be propeller driven "flying"
armour from the start like in Apocalypse.
It should allow research of supercavitation:
http://www.diodon349.com/Kursk-Memorial/Warpdrive_underwater.htm
Supercavitating torpedos, subs and rifles could replace Gauss
technology. I don't remember how gauss was supposed to work underwater
anyway.

And just try to throw a grenade for any kind of distance underwater,
I dare ya!

Also Submarine Titans.

oops

On the plus side, an effective Gauss/railgun weapon would inherently generate
the velocity required to produce cavitation.

The liquid stuff is already in the TFTD myth.

Yeah!

Check

Underwater explosions are not modelled correctly in TFTD either. A frag grenade
would have an extremely small shrapnel radius, while a demo charge would affect
everything on the map, but with about half the power.

But it's a great game anyway : )

UFO2000 is going to eventually become such remake. We are planning to
implement massive multiplayer mode in the game and it will have both
surface and underwater missions. The reason is simple, it is easier to
hide things underwater, so when the player goes offline it is easier
to explain why his base can't be attacked. More details are available
here: http://ufo2000.lxnt.info/pmwiki/index.php/MassiveMultiplayer/HomePage

But we are not too optimistic and this game mode is not going to be
implemented soon if nobody else helps in the development of the game.

I'm going to release a bugfix and balance improvement version in the
last days of May or in the beginning of June.

I will also have a vacation in Summer, so probably I will be able so
add some cool features to the game during that time. In general, I
plan to make the game fully moddable (ability to edit and change any
weapons in the game and also add custom unit skins) and add some dump
AI opponent for single player games. Also improvements to the game
server are required for proper player ratings calculation and holding
tournaments.

So the work on this massive multiplayer mode will probably start only
in the end of the year if nobody helps.
