We are planning to implement massive multiplayer mode in the game and it will have both surface and underwater missions. The reason is simple, it is easier to hide things underwater, so when the player goes offline it is easier to explain why his base can't be attacked. More details are available here: http://ufo2000.lxnt.info/pmwiki/index.php/MassiveMultiplayer/HomePage But we are not too optimistic and this game mode is not going to be implemented soon if nobody else helps in the development of the game. I'm going to release a bugfix and balance improvement version in the last days of May or in the beginning of June. I will also have a vacation in Summer, so probably I will be able so add some cool features to the game during that time. In general, I plan to make the game fully moddable (ability to edit and change any weapons in the game and also add custom unit skins) and add some dump AI opponent for single player games. Also improvements to the game server are required for proper player ratings calculation and holding tournaments. So the work on this massive multiplayer mode will probably start only in the end of the year if nobody helps.
