Too long to copy_paste the lot, see here for final patchnotes: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/15682579/the-iron-tide-602-patch-notes-10-13-2014 A few things I want to comment on: > Character models for races from the original game Dwarf, Gnome, Human, Night Elf, Orc, Tauren, Troll, Undead, and Draenei have been overhauled with an increase to fidelity and texture resolution; while retaining the core look and feel of the originals. Ehh... not so sure about the look and feel part. Some work brilliantly, others not so much, I'm thinking there'll be a LOT of complaints on the forums tbh. Thankfully most of my main characters I like, but I'm still very upset about my human rogue... > Barber Shop now provides additional character facial-customization options. This will at least mitigate the number of upset people, a very good decision by Blizz, but it won't be enough to solve every problem people will have with the new models. > The quest log has been integrated into the world map to make it easier to know where to go and what to do. This drives me mad, as it's much less intuitive than the old one, in my opinion - if you're in the wrong zone you have to press an extra button to even see your quests for elsewhere. I've seen an addon which restores the old style of log, hopefully that will work, as I really dislike the new one - sure, it's cool as an option, but not as the *only* option, IMO. > Toys awarded from quests will be automatically added to the Toy Box. This appears retrospective, when I copied a character to the beta I had a bunch of toys already learned from old quests :-) Love the toybox, except for the fact that it'll be another collection I'll want to try and complete :-P > Added a "Clean up Bags" button to automatically sort items in the characters inventory, moving all empty slots to one area, and automatically sorting items to the correct bag. Theres also the option to ignore a bag from cleanup. There's also an option to reverse the order items go into your bags, as for no obvious reason, the default is now the opposite to how it's been for the last 10 years... you can put it back the way it was in interface options (well, maybe they changed it back to default to the right way after the feedback on the forums, I just know when I first went on beta it drove me mad as everything was landing in the wrong bags) > Characters can now craft using the materials stored in both their Reagent Bank and Bank from anywhere. This is awesome, but sandly crafting does not include milling/prospecting, you still have to get everything out of your bank for those. from 10 seconds). > Silence is now available to Discipline and Shadow Priests. Thank goodness! They only said it was an experiment when it first happened, I guess if it made the patchnotes it really will happen! :-) This at least slightly makes up for losing Renew and Shadow Word: Death.... > Void Tendrils Root effect now has a chance to break if the target takes sufficient damage. A "chance" means if you barely tickle the mob the root breaks... it's utterly useless compared with how it used to be. Kinda useful for rooting an add you're not damaging, at least so long as you're Disc (Atonement heals the roots, otherwise the mobs will just hack through them in a few seconds and break it anyway), but I used to use it on frogs on Timeless Isle to stop them dotting me up too much, no chance of that working now. >The Transformation system has been improved. Characters can now be affected by multiple transformation effects at once. While multiple transformation or shapeshift effects are active, only the highest priority one will be visible. This allows transformation effects to persist while shapeshifts are active. Additionally, many restrictions on being transformed have been removed. Every druid in the game celebrates... as does every shaman who ever forgot not to activate ghost wolf and lost a costume ;-) Wrath by 100% and causes it to generate 1 Holy Power. > Renew is now available only to Holy Priests. > Shadow Word: Death is now available only to Shadow Priests. Not happy with those changes, I miss both spells badly. Got fairly used to playing without them now, but self-healing while questing is a nuisance now, no instant cast hot available, I had to glyph my shield with the heal glyph to help a bit, as Atonement feels a lot weaker now. > Discipline and Holy: Divine Star now heals for 50% less, and no longer damages enemies. This sucks for soloing too, it was great against packs of lowish health mobs... oh well. I've played with it enough on beta to be used to it now, but it still feels weaker, perhaps it'll be better on live with my well-geared priest though! > Combo Points for Rogues are now shared across all targets and they are no longer lost when switching targets. I look forward to playing with this change! It'll feel a bit weird after so long, but very nice when i get used to it I think, I know I like how it works with paladins and monks, anyway, imagine this will feel similar. > Health Funnel is no longer available to Destruction Warlocks. Annoyingly this also means it's not available to warlocks with no spec, and that's not a lot of fun for my ironman warlock - thankfully you can summon a fresh voidwalker at full health before the old one dies but I prefer fighting mobs, not chainsummoning voidwalkers while my one and only dot ticks...! Yes, I realise it's an extremely minority playstyle ;-) > Loot is no longer automatically deposited to the players inventory after defeating a boss in personal loot mode. Players eligible to receive loot should now be able to loot the boss to see what they received. Eep, I forsee this leading to a LOT of people complaining they got no loot! Had no idea this one was coming till I read the note, anyone who doesn't see this note will wonder where their loot is... not a great idea to change it after 3 years of us being trained to get loot automatically and wait for the popup to tell us what we got! > In the event a character thats eligible but was unable to loot the boss, contents of what they would have received is automatically mailed to the them. Ah, ok, that'll reduce the complaints, will still be people shouting about it before they check the mailbox though! > Provided additional safeguards to prevent accidental PvP flagging. > Non-PvP flagged players are unable to heal or damage PvP flagged players unless they manually flag themselves for PvP combat. This is awesome, however one word of warning; you still get flagged if a pvp-enabled guard attacks you, so be wary of getting too near opposite faction towns... other than that, it's great, exactly what I've wanted for the last 9+ years! > Items listed for sale on the Alliance, Horde, and neutral auction houses have now been combined together on a per-realm basis. My very Horde-heavy realm will benefit from that no end - at least, Alliance side will anyway. prices there are very messed up, some things are anything up to 10 times as expensive due to lack of supply, others are worthless due to no demand! > Outline Mode is a new setting that places an outline around important NPCs and objects without having to look at nameplates or tooltips. If you'd rather WoW didn't look like Diablo, you can disable *most* of it in options, but it's fixed on for quest items/things to gather, basically anything that used to have sparkles now has an ugly outline instead. At least I got rid of it on everything else, it looks horrendous with it all enabled... > Improved weapon comparison tooltips to make it easier to compare between 2-handed and 1-handed weapon setups. I've gotta say, this is awesome, I mouseover a 1h weapon in my bag with a 2h equipped, and it actually checks my bags for the most appropriate offhand, and displays the comparison of the 1h+offhand vs the 2h! Really useful feature.

This on oceanic, about 5 hours into the 10 hour announced downtime. The blizzard loader updates about 500M, goes into file reorganisation glitches and restarts a few times, probably not planned. I didn't time it but probably half an hour of churning. Then plays a cinematic and then you have the new load screen and V6.0.2

Oh joy, no more getting flagged by a bit of stray aoe, well a bit less, they will probably find a way. [ why don't pvp freaks just go to pvp servers? ] Pity about the high geared people who want to play dragging a few elites mob over you particularly the high aoe timeless ones, then dropping agro or just letting the aoe they can handle carve up the lowby alts then grab the mobs for themselves. Horde well, okay, years of pavlovian propaganda , but allies? 'okay, thats the fifth time, are you trying to get me killed?' 'serves you right for stealing my mobs noob &^^% off' very sadmaking for us noobs >> Items listed for sale on the Alliance, Horde, and neutral auction houses have now been combined together on a per-realm basis. > > My very Horde-heavy realm will benefit from that no end - at least, > Alliance side will anyway. prices there are very messed up, some > things are anything up to 10 times as expensive due to lack of supply, > others are worthless due to no demand! AH has gone pretty much insane the last weeks anyway, double the items at fire sale prices, nobody really knows what it is going to settle down to. Yes, larger market will hopefully settle things down, supply and demand doesn't really go well with hoarding and speculation. I know it does a bit but supply works better if things are stable, mess it up and you get damaging oscillations. Add in the prof changes and it could take months for any new model to emerge. AH has 50k items/stacks 1k-2k are mine, I don't think there are actually a lot of people playing the AH as a game. Sort of solitaire and virtual tetris, or something :-) Some items are 10% what was normal, some are 1000%. Speculation, hope, fear, dice rolling, psychology, nothing reliable.

From the patch notes 'newly boosted characters start on the front line in Blasted lands' though slightly realistic starting chars on the front with no talents set etc will have a high initial attrition rate Guild levels gone, roll an unguilded alt if you don't have one, maybe make a packet for signs. I keep one free for signs, it just holds timeless gear ,christmas decorations and fireworks. Although 4 signs is a lot easier to get anyway, 50 gold a sign , 300 g and you have it done. Assuming 50% just take the gold and laugh. If they stay I usually give more gold and gear anyway to the honourable people :-)

Most of mine have not updated though DBM has, thank goodness. Probably won't get to play until the evening. pt

Addons are always a headache, I expect to find several of mine dead and have to hunt for replacements, always happens with major patches, especially as I tend to use less mainstream addons a lot. On the plus side, I'm used to playing addon-free on the beta realms now so I'll just disable the lot and gradually replace them over the next few days. I see US realms have a 1 hour extension, wonder how long EU maintenance will end up being tomorrow... at least any major bugs will have been found and fixed by that time!

It is up but I have to do some driving :-( So just a quick try, I can stop anytime :-) Loader says 6.0.2 live Play After logging in I have to choose realms again then I guess 'suggest realm' button? Yes. See mine, select, 'incompatible' wtf? logout of loader. restart Ahh..downloading more content. 16MB Did that, now 'the download program is preparing to start' nothing, still stuck stop, restart Game playable, no downloads now it goes to login Tadah! character selection 'you are running a new version and have interface modifications that are out of date' Disable ...Ohh good grief My humans, they look...where is a bucket ? Okay, 'disable' Well there it is Popup of what's changed, request button to start Quests for patch events. Accept, just accepts, no location change. FPS is higher, I guess the graphics..but it is very jumpy, not smooth. Talents are intact, but glyphs are messed, some new glyphs, buttons are all over the place and missing. Omg, the numbers, they are so small :-) This will take a while, so go out and fly around still very jumpy on the graphics No , that's it , they have all gone panda yompity bleeerch QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ

I'll have to find a transmog set with a full face-covering helm I think - I've always left helm off on him until now :-( >FPS is higher, I guess the graphics..but it is very jumpy, not smooth. >Talents are intact, but glyphs are messed, some new glyphs, buttons are >all over the place and missing. >Omg, the numbers, they are so small :-) I got used to the numbers surprisingly fast on beta, sure feels like it takes ages to kill stuff though, but maybe that's just an illusion, or down to be having crap gear compared with my live main.

It seems a lot jumpier even though the fps is still high, but it is very spiky just in the city. >> FPS is higher, I guess the graphics..but it is very jumpy, not smooth. >> Talents are intact, but glyphs are messed, some new glyphs, buttons are >> all over the place and missing. >> Omg, the numbers, they are so small :-) > > I got used to the numbers surprisingly fast on beta, sure feels like > it takes ages to kill stuff though, but maybe that's just an illusion, > or down to be having crap gear compared with my live main. All my stats seem to be wrong, like the wrong +stats for what counts off to reforge..oh ..yeah that's right. The 450 engineer trinket is better stats than the timeless trinket, good think I kept them. My characters don't get much instance based development. The timeless book etc seem quite op, should make grinding a bit easier. I will probably get used to it, in time, maybe.

Mine's a human male rogue... I have to say if Blizz don't come out before WoD release and say they're still working on improving them, then I may consider a racechange. I'm so very attached to that character, had RP backstory and everything for him right from the beginning, would never have even remotely considered a racechange until now, but he just is not my character... it'd feel less bad to add a new chapter to my story involving a horrible ending and a resurrection by Sylvanas' valkyr... :-/ Would also solve my lockbox issue on Horde side, although create a new one for alliance lol - however, I've no objection to using my lvl 90 boost on a male dwarf rogue, they actually look good! Playing with both models on beta, I have a feeling that may be my best solution... sigh. UD male isn't great (shoulderpads are kinda wonky lol) but it's better than human by far, while dwarf male is awesome, I really want one of those! >System->advanced and turn of 'new character models' makes the chunder >inducing animations a bit better. >It seems a lot jumpier even though the fps is still high, but it is very >spiky just in the city. Yeah, dwarf run is on the bouncy side lol, hadn't noticed it too much on beta as I'm mainly playing female draenei who seem alright, human run was horrible last time I looked though, felt like they'd got the old female orc run... >> I got used to the numbers surprisingly fast on beta, sure feels like >> it takes ages to kill stuff though, but maybe that's just an illusion, >> or down to be having crap gear compared with my live main. > >All my stats seem to be wrong, like the wrong +stats for what counts >off to reforge..oh ..yeah that's right. >The 450 engineer trinket is better stats than the timeless trinket, good >think I kept them. Yeah, the stats are a bit annoying, it's kinda random what your gear got turned into, at least you've got plenty ways to change it, timeless items, valor gear is now for gold (one run of ToT should give the needed rep) plus UBRS runs should help.

I played very little of the beta before addons were > allowed because of the lack of bar mods. What sort of bar mods? I need big buttons, the standard ones are too tiny in any configuration. I don't have the dexterity or eyesight to see or hit them. I just could not get a decent layout with window sizes or fullscreen. One addon that may not be the best I just got and works is MoveAnything A steep learning curve but it allows action bars resize and position, turn off the gryphons bag resizing. Bank resize, bank bag resize. Guild resize - not needed. The bags don't autosort though, position is fixed on all characters. Not really a problem since the bag market has probably collapsed and I can standardise on decent but not huge bags. Once you mod the bank or guild bank close and reopen , otherwise opening the net tab and seeing it empty is a bit of a heart stopper :-) I managed to collapse an entire 6 guildbank tabs for one character, plus bank bags and on-character down to just on-character and a few of the basic bank slots. It does mats, gear and single stack items would take more. I know I could run a single bag addon but that would be later if ever. That is without the reagent tab, not much use for selling. A few of my most used addons are broken. Some things I really like, others I am not liking much at all I haven't even started on the 90s yet, apart from checking their bags.

But now you cant mount my flying dish mount when my non-druid char is in the water... Annoying. > Im sure more will come! Mage (arcane); Mana gems are gone. I was a little scary about that as they were a major part of my arcane rotation. But I've realized that its impossible to go oom unless I simply spam arcane blast. I guess this will change a little when I start leveling in WoD. Mirror is now a talent?! DAMMIT! I dont see any reason to make this ability to a talent. Also it was a fantastic lifesaver/aggro pump if I got in troubles. I will definitely gonna miss that :( Shammy (resto); Greater healing wave is gone. That is fine for me as Healing surge seems to use relatively lesser mana than before and still do some fine healing. So this is just a simple replacement. Less buttons to press. Woohoo! I did a few garrosh attempts on HC (formerly known as normal) with an experienced semi-pug raid last night. Garry is nerfed big-time until we got to the very last part of the fight where we kept wiping. Kinda odd as the 14man raid were an experienced raid with loads of garry kills. We used the stack strategy in the first and second phase so the desecrated weapon got nuked asap. There were a few situations here where I decided to use my emergency healing tide totem. But that totem doesnt do as much healing as before! So here it was all about timing healing rain and healing stream totem when the weapon lands in the middle of the group and thereafter spamming chain healing. Besides that there arent many changes here. So business as usual as long as I keep the nerf of my healing tide totem in mind. Btw. Mana tide totem is also gone. But that is not a problem as it seems spellcasters and healers cant oom now. Everything else; Leveling a char seems to be much tougher now. The stats squish has been done very well. But some pve mobs hits like a truck so Blizzard definitely needs to do some more fine-tuning here. A guildie told me he did a lowlvl dungeon where they wiped like 10 times. I tested my mage on Timeless Isle yesterday. Almost all mobs are down to 30-50k hp now so theyre even easier to kill than before. But some of the rares has become really lethal now! I cant remember the last time I have died to a timeless rare. But yesterday I died 2 times even with all possible buffs + the chi'ji buff! HMMM!?! The only real annoyance is that flex has become normal, normal has become heroic and heroic has become mythic. This confuses a lot of people. Fx the anubisath Idol which is a very versatile battle pet for many fights there is a few changes here. higher hit chance, lower damage etc.. I'm leveling a horde mage by doing 5 specific pet battle dailies which you can hand in straight from the quest log. With the 300% exp pot dropped from Krol the Blade you can level a char 1-3 levels every day just by logging your leveling char for 20 secs. :) Strategy here: <http://www.wowhead.com/item=86574#comments:id=1887536> -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

Never usually see that now, but there just wasn't much aoe healing happening, think everyone had it nerfed quite a lot. I probably shouldn't have done my usual "just dps and let Atonement handle everything" healing style, it's worked all expansion for worldbosses, so I never bother switching to Holy (which I greatly prefer for actual healing), maybe I should do now! >Btw. Yeah, they changed base regen so you're not so utterly useless in crap gear at the start of an expansion, then overpowered when you gear up - now you start with decent enough regen, and it improves more slowly with better gear. Good change imo, I used to hate healing anything soon after hitting max lvl. >Everything else; > >Leveling a char seems to be much tougher now. The stats squish has been >done very well. Yeah, been reading about that on the forums, I at first thought it was just normal complaining, but mobs oneshotting people in full heirlooms, fair enough, that's a bug ;-) Hopefully will be fixed soon, not all mobs do it but apparently some are lethal. >I tested my mage on Timeless Isle yesterday. I haven't really tried anything yet, will have a shot later, I'm going to have to be careful of the frogs though, my root which used to hold them off me the whole time, so I could forget that stacking dot, now breaks in about 1 second if I'm dpsing the rooted mob... bit useless that!

Hmm you have a point there! My shammy's chain healing still rocks though. I have to read the tooltips a bit closer when I log my shammy again. I know that 2 well-geared shammy healers could aoe-heal a full Ordos raid while picking their noses. But this seems to have changed now. I felt so OP when I did that with another resto shammy 2 months ago. :] >> Btw. Mana tide totem is also gone. Hah, yeah, but you may remember how it was newly dinged with 4k... very very painful (my draenei priest was at that stage last week, oh the memories, not ;-)) This should improve it, certainly mana seems no issue to me on beta, always used to be that while levelling I'd struggle for mana while questing in the last few levels, but not this time - I struggled for dps and keeping my own health up, but not for mana! >>> Leveling a char seems to be much tougher now. That's insane :-) None of my alts have been like that, but then I've never levelled full heirlooms, I level more often in full greys/no spec, more challenge :-P

Mine are mostly low. The worrier(sic:-) is about 510 and could handle
the lower timeless elites and some of the higher level ordos.
Some of the rares it could not or barely handle are now easy.
Usually a pack of players would add on, now it is sometimes solo.
It does -seem- burdens drop a little more often, or maybe there are
just more rares alive longer to drop their RNG.
It can now eat elite turtles, cranes,ox and large mobs of the non-elites
but the elite tigers it could handle wipe it if they land a paw, 4 bleed
ticks and it is death even after you certainly kill it.
I could usually ride them out with a bandage.
Health drops rapidly, damage out is higher, it is mostly a matter of
attack macro, stun, blow all cooldowns, then spam filler, wait for
cooldowns, heal at every opportunity.
Very much faster but little time to anticipate any tactics.
A spike in damage, a couple of crits and either they or me are down.
Buffs gone, so I just keep grinding without buffs which works maybe
50/50 when it wasn't an option before. Of course I then steer clear of
the hardest ones anyway.
Most of my chars are popping health potions almost as part of their
rotation. 40 elite kills farming lesser charms, and a 20 stack of
potions gone. I almost never used them before, just topped up with
berries and whatever.
I haven't actually died all that much but it keeps being close, all
the time and pretty frenetic. The actual farming took almost no time
partly because there are so many elites and rares still alive.
On a side note since a lot fewer higher levels are there some, obviously
geared ,horde* have now taken to luring molten guardians into the
inn/tent and npc area, login, sea of flame, dead as soon as the screen
shows. Annoying when you have quick-logged out there for a break to
preserve full buffs.
* there are the same annoyances on alliance, these just happen to be
horde characters, they kill horde with this as well I suppose.

Sigh, I keep losing tooltips, npc description text, map. Addons on or off doesn't seem to help. Sometimes it just hangs at character loading, with or without addons maybe addons trigger it but I really need the resize addons because the standard graphics are useless to me. Did they design it all on 60 inch screens or something? I just cannot get a good graphics setting that doesn't require resizing, for me. That being said having the capability in the game to resize things makes it fairly tolerable, if it works properly :-)

Currently trying to find a decent looking full-face helm transmog for him so I don't hate the sight of him lol, although if Blizz don't fix that truly awful run animation I'll have to racechange anyway, I can't stand that for too long, and can't always be stealthed (I really don't understand how they've managed to get stealth movement animations looking exactly like the old ones, and run animation looking nothing like? Was just the same when I tried a dwarf rogue out too, dodgy run, stealth fine...)

Another nice change I've found; with the new properly disabled PVP, when you do the stink bombing quest over SW, you do indeed get flagged, but it unflags you again when you arrive back in UC - no more waiting out the 5 minutes! Think it might've been hotfixed in tbh, as I'm sure I had to wait the 5 mins the first time I did it this year, but it's certainly fixed now :-) Also noticed it's impossible to right-click the max lvl guards in a lot of neutral towns, which is also a nice bonus, I guess because they're pvp-flagged. I've never accidentally attacked one anyway, but they did always make me rather nervous... :-P
