So good games from id Software coming out since Wolf3D; but one bad thing is about them: too much brown atmosphere......(.....cant play Q1 any more...) we've seen the shots from Q3, i noticed , with 24bit textures the orange-brown-red still dominating in the game, on the walls... recently i've seen the Prey screenshots; lookes between Q2 and Q3 but more with green and blue in it; and some picures on the walls.(lookes better) we wanna id Games to be more colorful, with nicer textures!!!! id leaving for us to complete the taste of the game by adding some new suff to Q3......we could probably put some pictures in the walls, add some new models...will wait when the game will arive and do something.....(alreday done for Q1 & Q2) P.S.:>Why id couldn't include some sort of simulator to the 3D action, to fly between the bases...(like in the end of mission pack: The Reckonning) [_exT]

I've always like the look and atmosphere of Quake 1 the best, with the more gothic attributes. Quake 2 is far and away a better game, though. Personally, I'm glad that Q3A is going back to the look of Q1. I may be the only one.... I don't like overly colorful games. I felt like Unreal was "cartoony". -- Anhedonic icq 23096531

I felt like Unreal was > "cartoony". damn right, the feel and atmosphere of an ID game has always been helped to a certain degree by the level of it's brown-ness, Adding too many bright colors would make them seem like just another 3D game cloner, which they definetely are not (well technically they are, but you see my point, heh).

There was a screenshot I saw in a magazine where the player was looking at a big wall with large bright yellow and blue areas on it. It looked like a very nice change. Then I found out that there had been a printing error, and that picture had come out brighter than it should have done. The actual picture looks very dull. -- Andrew Gillett http://argnet.fatal-design.com/ ICQ: See homepage "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh." - Richard Herring

Yeah, right. The atmosphere was much better than in games like UNREAL, which was a bit too colorful. Ironic that I originally saw this picture, and it was very bright and nice-looking, and a big change from id's previous games, but it turned out to be a printing error, and in fact looked just as dull as anything in Quake 2. -- Andrew Gillett http://argnet.fatal-design.com/ ICQ: See homepage You will meet a tall dark stranger. I remember when the first Quake2 screenshots came out. People slammed them as being too clourful. Q2 was the better game, but (personally) I prefer the browns of Q1 for atmosphere. Silver

However, Quake 2 in OpenGL mode had coloured lighting - so although the textures were only 256 colour, they could simulate a larger palette by using coloured lights in the right places. -- Andrew Gillett http://argnet.fatal-design.com/ ICQ: See homepage "Old man?
