PROBLEM with Voodo Rush based AT3D card by Alliance Semiconductor.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone out there possessing a Voodoo Rush based AT3D
card from Alliance Semiconductor has had problems with textures being all
'smeared' (i.e. looking just like my first attempts at texture mapping :-))?

In games such as GL Quake, GL Hexen, Showdows Of The Empire (Demo) and Jedi
Knight (Demo) and also, all the DirectX demo applets, I get this problem.

I'm running with the latest DirectX5, Glide 2.42 and the latest AT3D drivers
from Alliance's web-site. Now, according to Alliance, their AT3D drivers are
compatible with DirectX3a (no mention of DX5 :-)), so I believe that therein
may the problem lie (at least as far as Direct3D games like SOTE and Jedi
are concerned).

Anyone have any comments on the above? Otherwise I guess I'll just have to
wait until Alliance get around to releasing some new AT3D drivers.

Thanks in advance.

You are seeing bad drivers in action. Streaky texturing.

This was a problem for me until I got all the drivers sorted out.
3DFX has some directions for Rush card users. It is screwy that even
for the OpenGL games, you need the correct D3D and Glide drivers.

Forget about the actual Alliance drivers, the 3DFX Rush ones work fine.

Once you get that all sorted out Quake/HexenII and all the demos as well as
all my custom code run great.

Hopefully I will get a non-debug full OpenGL implementation soon. I use
GL Lines a lot in my tools.

This may seem really dumb, and if it does, don't take any offense..:P

By smearing, what exactly do you mean? It's not just the texture filtering
is it? Othewise, wait for the new rush drivers coming out soon.

Return it ASAP! My Voodoo had strange looking stuff and I
returned and the new one is fine. Never blame these things on
drivers!! Especially with the wide variety of games you see this
in. Shit happens!

Yup. I've just gone back to using the 3dfx ref. drivers (which do work ok) -
I just wanted to check out any possible speed gains. Looks like for the time
being I'll be sticking with 3dfx's drivers though.
