Team Fortress: More Memory?

I'm starting to get into playing Team Fortress on QW, but I'm having
trouble with some of the maps. 2Fort4 is one of them, I think. I
couldn't download it while playing the game, so I grabbed it from the
net. It still won't load.

I can play some of the maps, like Rock1 and a few others, but when the
map changes to the 2fort4 game, it kicks me out. Qspy gives me a message
like "increase -heapsize 1600" but that doesn't work either. I usually
run Quake with the "-winmem 16" parameter, but it doesn't work with or
without it.

I'm using an AMD K5-133 w/32 megs RAM and most other stuff works fine.

Any help/tips/advice is greatly appreciated!

I'll give it a shot. I just changed it, and I'll see if it works after
some server changes to 2fort-whatever that is.

Thanks!!

If you are using QW (since you mention Qspy you probably are) try using the
following command under View/Options/Gameplay -

qwcl.exe -heapsize 24500

this should increase the amount of memory to about 24Mb. Winmem doesn't
work for QW, GLQuake or Winquake. I'm surprised that you can run Rock1
though as the map is much larger than 2fort4. If you use no command line
parameters QW automatically assigns 16Mb which I find is more than enough
for playing TF maps. If it still doesn't work I suggest that the problem is
something else....

Tried it, didn't work. Locked up the system. This same thing happens to
a friend. I downloaded the 2fort_32 map from the web but even when I'm
in a game and it changes to that map, it kicks me out and says that II
should try putting -heapsize 1600 on the quakeworld command line.

Same thing happens to a friend of mine...

I had the same problem (on a 64M, P133). If you are running Win95, go to
microsoft and get the updated kernal32.dll file. It fixes a problem of
memory "leaking" out of windows, and not being available for use. Windoze
sorta ... looses ... some of it. :-/ Now I can run QW with the "-heapsize
32000" parameter (32Mb for the game) with no problems.

I still have one error, tho. On one of the maps (I cant remember which one
right now) I get kicked off, and get an error about an invalid something
size of negative 7 million something or other. (Sorry about the vague
discription, I cant remember for the life of me what the exact error is.)
I do have the map tho. Any one know what's going on?

I read that if any of your files on the mods that you download off a
quake server are corrupt you will get this message. I got it to! I
deleted my tf dir and downloaded the whole thing off the net again :(
But it worked!~
