Mapedit for Wolfenstein

This message goes to Bill Kirby concerning his "mapedit" program. This
program turns a good game into a *GREAT* game. It's excellent!! My utmost
praise goes to this guy. I think Apogee could stand to learn a few things
from this; perhaps offer "game editors" as an option to be included when
you register their games. In my opinion, an editor such as map edit makes the
game more fun for a much longer period of time. When I finish a game such
as Keen or Wolfenstein, it ceases to have much appeal. But mapedit fired me
right up again. I'm now creating new and more challenging levels for my
freinds to try and vice versa.

Thanks Bill,

Terry Henning

I agree wholeheartedly with this. There's no bigger letdown than to realize
you've found pretty much all there is to find in a game like Keen. It's
intense fun while it lasts, but once it's over you pretty much have to throw
the game away. I'd *love* to see Apogee include version 1.0 of TED5 with a
Keen registration, but perhaps they feel that this will be eating away at
their future game sales. To that I say don't worry - all of us will need our
new game levels to be made by someone other than ourselves - after all,
where's the challenge in solving a puzzle you made yourself? Apogee could
still sell new map sets, they would just cease to be the sole source for
such maps.

Are you listening, Mr. Miller? ;-)

One complaint (I know, I'm being nitpicky and all, but...) - the program won't
run for me because my trackball is fried and it refuses to run with straight
keyboard control. Could this please be adjusted?

So put a Random Event Generator option into the game so you can either run
premade levels or just have it make up maps and fill them on the spot when
you're in the mood for a straight shoot-em-up. (The #1 thing I want to add
to Wolf3D.)
