I've had several VHS units since and every time I try to zip to different places on a tape I curse. Beta's tape transport mechanism is so superior to VHS it isn't even funny. I now have a JVC Super VHS unit for which I forked over about $700 a couple years ago. It has some features that didn't exist at the time of my Beta unit (indexing, for instance) but in the most important respects (image quality, speed, etc.) it is NOT the Beta's superior.
