And whether the GUI is an OS or an environment has little relevance: the user's experience and the programming requirements change by a lot. MS-DOS is present under Win95, but at such a low level that it is not noticed. > > I frequently use Linux, and when I'm at school I either fail or use a MAC > > (kind of like being trapped between razor blades and a wad of C4), > > I know more about the computers than most of the teachers at my school, > > even the ones with degrees in computer science. Hmmm...Maybe you go to Dumbfuck State College (tm) > or something. Read anything that has to do with the current state of > affairs in computers and you'll see mention of it. He did not say he had never heard of Rhapsody. Read the friggin' post before you flame it! He said he has never _seen_ or _used_ Rhapsody, which is a fair thing to say of most people outside Apple R&D, because it hasn't been released yet. WRT knowing more than peope with Ph.D.s in CS, he did not say Ph.D., he said degree. This could be a batchelor's degree. And you don't need to know this area of computers to have a degree in CS. You need to know computer theory, logic and programming. It is quite possible that he knows more about OSes or hardware than somebody with a BS in CS. I know more about these areas than many doctoral candidates I know, and I'm just an incoming freshman. And he does not go to any college, he goes to high school or lower: note the use of the word "teacher" rather than "professor" or "instructor." Do you actually know anything about colleges, degrees or education in general? Get past 7th grade before you post on these topics. -Andy
