Forgive me if this problem has been rasied earlier - I am new to this newsgroup I got Privateer 2 today and have two problems with it. Does anyone know of any solution? a. Firstly, it keeps locking up after a space flight and when you approach a planet to land at. It stops at about the point where the "You are getting too close" audio message would start. b. Its runs too quickly on my Pentium II 300, and the combat scenes are almost unplayable. For instance, after a jump it charges up ready for the next jump in about 1 second. My old DOS version used to take 10 times as long. The combat has speeded up by a similar amount. Does anyone know of a way to slow the program down? Many thanks,

It stops at about the point where the "You are getting >too close" audio message would start. IIRC this was a bug that was fixed in a patch. Without the patch the only way to fix it was to copy your saved games and reinstall the entire game - quite a drag and then a few missions later it would happen again. The patch should be available from EA or Origins webpage, it was also on a few magazine cover disks, it may still be as it's now been released on budget. > >b. Not a problem I have at the moment (not replacing my P100 until next month). When I had a similar problem with the original WC I got round it by disabling the internal and external cache from the BIOS screen. For WC2 I only had to disable the external BIOS. There is a shareware utility called MoSlo, but I'm not sure if it works with Privateer 2. Abnyone else know? Mike Hussey

The patch for P2 is for DOS version only, the Win95 version already has been patched. MoSlo works for the DOS version, it can be found on Origin's home page, according to the FAQ for P2 it should work for the Win95. The FAQ is also from Origin's home page at www.origin.ea.com -- Graham Dollow --------------------------------------------- I speak for myself, and no-one else Mike Hussey <mi...@falconry.demon.co.uk> wrote in article <bCndDAA4...@falconry.demon.co.uk>... > In article <01bd77a2$08008120$a84995c1@default>, Robert Huntley > <xg...@dial.pipex.com> writes > >Forgive me if this problem has been rasied earlier - I am new to this > >newsgroup > > > >I got Privateer 2 today and have two problems with it. For a more precise link to the Privateer 2 Deluxe Edition FAQ, try
http://www.origin.ea.com/tech/gamefaq/priv2win95.html .
Note that using Moslo to slow down the whole of Win95 is an operation
that should not be attempted by the faint-hearted. :)
