Hi everybody. I used to be a Mac guy but have long since converted to the dark side. On the Mac there was a great shareware game called Escape Velocity and it's sequel EV-Override. Very simple stuff -- start small, explore the galaxy, trade and deal to improve your ship, watch out for pirates and aliens that don't like you. Hours of wasted time. :) Is there anything like that for the PC? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. - Sheldon

I tried the demo and it look pretty good. Kind of like Privateer with an overhead view. http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/evn/ TNX Blair.

I went to the site and couldn't find out anything substantial about the game, just three paragraphs of overview flavour text that could be describing any of dozens of games. Nor did I see a link to the demo. Just a "Purchase" link and a dozen screenshots. It seems to assume the visitor is expected to just know what the game is like. How do you get to the demo? Thanks in advance. - Sheldon

The download is a the game. They also have a button that leads to a bunch of reviews at various sites. This game came out for the Mac first so that is where most of the reviews are. Same game just running on a different OS. I tried the demo and it really caught my interest. It might not have the fully 3D and immersive enviroments like X3 but it looks like an inexpensive and fun game. In my opinion that is a good combination. TNX Blair.

D'oh! So I discovered last night. Thank you for replying. > They also have a button > that leads to a bunch of reviews at various sites. I also found their "backstory" links at the top of a sub-page. I have already wasted four hours on it last night and will be buying it within the week. This is just the kind of simple yet complex game I was looking for after all the glitzy but sterile eye-candy I've been playing of late. Thanks to one and all for their help and suggestions. I've got me a galaxy to explore! - Sheldon

I cant believe no-one mentioned the awesome Space Rangers(2). Read this review: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=61014 If you're in NA and want it, it's on gogamer.com "Sheldon England" <sheldonengland@netscape.net> wrote in message news:436BAB11.48CE0EDD@netscape.net... > Blair wrote: >> >> Sheldon England wrote: >> >> > How do you get to the demo? >> >> Just go to the above URL and there is a button on the right that says >> Windows Downloads. Gogamer does not ship to Canada. I am in Canada and I cannot find Space Rangers 2. :-( boo hoo! This game is getting some very favorable reviews and I would like to get it but no luck. TNX Blair.
