I also found their "backstory" links at the top of a sub-page. I hadn't
noticed those before.

I am a former Mac guy who played the first two (and all the funky cool
mods) so I am very familiar with the basic concept.

Absolutely. I have already wasted four hours on it last night and will
be buying it within the week. This is just the kind of simple yet
complex game I was looking for after all the glitzy but sterile
eye-candy I've been playing of late.

Thanks to one and all for their help and suggestions. I've got me a
galaxy to explore!
