I'm sooo glad didnt buy this game. I have been tempted a couple of times in
the past but have resisted knowing just how unimpressed with all of the last
games in the series. And now with them scrapping cockpits etc just seems the
franchise is actually going downhill! Ive never heard of such a thing before
in that later incarnations of a game have actually had more stripped out
than previous ones. Ive heard of plenty of remakes losing the gameplay of
the original classic game though such as XCOM, Gunship 2000, Railway Tycoon,
Pirates etc etc but never as a strict evolution of a game. This must be a
first in history where we can actually see in real time the evolution of the
gaming industry in general and certainly reflects how games are actually
getting better graphically but worse in terms of playability. Its something
Ive obviously experienced many times but it will be interesting to see how
the X franchise changes over the next ten years acssuming there is another
one!

I suppose the younger generation are to blame here in that they equate good
graphics to a good game and they have parents willing to buy them this
rubbish and not knowing any better. Its just as well there are a few
developers who know better. Silent Hunter 4 due out in a week is a perfect
example of a great game lately that hast sacrificed any gameplay and has in
fact improved on the original by a long shot.

I cant think of any other games that have done this myself.
