And yet I fail to see any topic praising that wonderful collection of
bits, battles and stories.

Did I mention it's now on Steam Sale , 60% off, at the ridiculous price
of 5.99 euros ? Why haven't you bought it yet ?	Why? I'm looking at YOU.

Because it's a DLC to a game that was badly reviewed as a NWN style
engine demo which I do not own.
I'm not going to buy a game that sucks (no matter how cheap) just to
play an addon to that game that doesn't suck.
They should have released as a standalone not a DLC.

Basic rule of thumb, if the core game sucks, I don't buy it. If I did
buy it before reviews (Borderlands2) I don't give them more money for
DLCs.
There's all too many games now that put out content as DLCs that should
have been part of the core game, and I'm not going to finance that
methodology.

Kind of like buying a car - I don't care that a whole shitload of extra
optional parts are available to make the car suck less - if the basic
car sucks I'm not going to buy it in the first place.

Actually even the original game had excellent writing, what was the
problem was that it was highly linear and only had a few rooms per
location and did not have any environmental interaction at all. It was
more along the lines of an interactive RPG book.

Have not played Dragonfall yet, but I liked Shadowrun returns. Not the
best game I have played but also not the worst.

Sort of; they released it as a DLC and then much later released a
standalone "Director's Cut" version.

I googled for a review of Shadowrun Dragonfall and the review said DLC.

Perhaps it'll be worth getting, although I'm not much into isometric
games these days.

I got it, the version on Steam is definitely a stand alone and I'm
enjoying it so far (about two hours in).

Just to be clear, if I want everything, then I need to buy 'Shadowrun
Returns Deluxe' AND 'Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut' from this
page, right? -->

Shadowrun Returns gets you two campaigns - Seattle and Berlin, with
Berlin being the original "Dragonfall". The standalone Director's Cut
is the improved version of the Berlin campaign, described if you
scroll down to the "Arrives September 18th" section of the page you
linked to. It notes that "existing owners of the Dragonfall expansion"
will get the Director's Cut for free (I did) but not sure if that
still holds true. Guessing you would have to buy both nowadays.

Replying to my own post but thank you Craig for the reply.

I've been reading up on this game. If I get this before the sale ends,
I am only going to get the Director's Cut. It has no ties to the
original game's campaign and fixes many of its problems, the biggest
being a lack of a proper save feature.

Updating my own post. It looks like a save anywhere feature was added
to the original campaign via a patch.

Well it's was better than DA:I. I think Wasteland 2 is the real winner of 2014.
