The more I have dealings with this ESO Beta thing the more I suspect
its (say) 94.3% selling / marketing tactics - 5.7% genuine 'Testing'.
If 'They' can send me elaborate flashy graphic Email adds for the 'Limited
(very)
Imperial Edition . Then 'They' can send me simple plain text descriptions /
info
of what a Beta tester/player will be required to take in the way of
downloads / sys requirements
If there Damn installation ritual fails to complete because of insufficient
disc space.
It deletes everything & starts from scratch again.

T987654321 <qwrt...@gmail.com> looked up from reading the entrails of the porn spammer to utter "The Augury is good, the signs say: >Gopher posted several play vids on YouTube. Game looks lame. It is, or well, it depends what you're looking for I guess. If you want an extremely shallow RPG MMO, with: A 5 slot skill bar (like guild wars but smaller) and only skills that are slotted can be improved, but they improve whether you used them or not. Pre defined skills based on which class you are, and pretty unexciting skills at that. IE you can become invisible for 2.5 seconds. Teaming limited to 4 with no voice comms and a char window that you can't change the colors of, can't change the opacity of and that erases itself after a short time so you can scroll up and check messages you got while in combat. PVP based around max level (50) with scaling for lower levels, but scaling doesn't scale your skills or give you skills, so a real level 50 would be massively more powerful than a scaled up level 10 Quest story lines that are explicitly written as single player that suddenly end with a group difficulty boss that some classes can't possibly solo since it has 15-20 TIMES their hit points. No using the environment in combat: You're a weakish class fighting something with a big sword - you want to stay out of range - you're allowed to run, but you're not allowed to climb up on a rock where he can't reach you. If you do: Climb up and attack, first shot hits, second shot hits, 3rd shot hits, the game determines that it has no path to you and the enemy you're shooting is back at full hitpoints and SLIDES back to it's starting point. Everything resets because it wasn't a "fair fight" or some nonsense like that (no mention of course in that fair fight mechanic about how the enemy is a console style boss with 15x your hit points (or more) and summons extra enemies every 30 seconds. This of course gives the game immersion quality of negative infinity. Made worse by the absurdly short ranges. Longbows have a range of (claimed) 28 meters - but it's more like 28 feet (unless my Bosmer (the shortest race) stands 3+ meters tall) Spells are similarly short ranged. As soon as max range is reached, the projectile just vanishes. Little history note here: In 1542, Henry VIII set a minimum practice range for adults using flight arrows of 220 yd (200 m) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_longbow In TESO you're only allowed to attack with ranged attacks from ranges where a melee attacker can reach you within a couple seconds and you can't get up where he can't reach you. I'm assuming this is because of the pvp system, or else melee oriented characters would be totally fucked in combat vs ranged users. The problem is - that's reality, a longbow user would fill a sword wielding enemy full of arrows long before he got in range to hit back, we've got CENTURIES of real life examples of that. That or once again it's this bastardized solo/group dynamic - short range ranged attacks aren't completely stupid IF you're part of a group with a melee attack member holding the attention of the enemy - BUT of course the actual quest is written as a SOLO adventure. Not just given to you solo, not just not recommending you take friends with you, but written explicitly that you are supposed to do this solo. Crappy loot - kill an armor wearing enemy, get random loot that doesn't include that armor. A map system that as soon as you are within city limits will only show the city -that's right, get a quest to go somewhere and you have to actually leave the city completely in order to see the countryside map. All very generic, very stripped down MMO feel, with all the worst MMO attributes - like showing up to rescue someone, or kill someone and finding 72 other people there to do the same thing - it really needs way more instancing for immersion for kill/rescue mission. Zenimax is really showing that they don't understand MMOs and they really don't understand what Elder Scrolls fans want, since they removed every trace of Elder Scrolls from the game except for some names and they've included pretty much every bad MMO trait. Oh and following the WOW meme, mounts are super expensive meme - IE a horse will cost you THOUSANDS of gold, while you're busy looting 1-3 gold off corpses and selling items for less than 10 gold. Not some epic flying whatever, just a horse. The cheapest one I saw was 7k for a basic farm horse. Ever had those Vegan meat substitutes - "meat" made of tofu and such? TESO is to actual Elder Scrolls as Tofurky is to a New York cut steak of Kobe beef. And for this mess they want $60 + another $15/month. I really hope they don't have a lot of preorders, because this thing deserves to die a quick death at a huge financial loss so they'll actually LISTEN to what gamers actually want in the future. I think Xocyll (below) covers ESO woes pretty thoroughly . The Item valuing is ridiculous . A Sword might be shown in Players inventory at 9 Gold - the price its sells to a trader for. But Trader shows similar items around 400 + Gold. Something I really dislike & think wrong is the way opponents - particularly Monsters - once they attack Hero are almost impossible to run away from - they just keep on coming at high speed. Hiding around some corner out of there sight seems to do it, but takes to long for them to lose interest. I thought the Graphics this Beta look better & are good - but as with all ES games - very repetitive. If 'They' sold it as a initial purchase plus "Pay a Dollar For Each Play Session Day" then I would buy to dip into occasionally - having (as usual with me) worn out most interest in the 1st month or so of Play. But I'm not doing $15 per. every month @@@@ "Xocyll" <Xoc...@gmx.com> wrote in message news:i339h9l4gqumop8lrk8ofcrlqekimo2p7r@4ax.com... > T987654321 <qwrt...@gmail.com> looked up from reading the entrails of > the porn spammer to utter "The Augury is good, the signs say: > >>Gopher posted several play vids on YouTube. If by trader, you mean an NPC trader, this is normal for MMOs. You don't buy armor and weapons from NPCs. You buy them from the auction house from other players.
