I just finished it last month. One hint is to pick of the Specter Snare. Don't go into the room with Mangar, don't go into the door in front of it. Circle around until you are above Mangar and you will come to a magic mouth. It will ask a question (easy answer - e-mail me if you have trouble). And will give you a weapon. This weapon stones whoever it hits. Use DEST on Mangar, DMST on the Demons, and just keep at it. It took me forever to get through, but once I did it once, it worked easier the next time. (Oh, and cast GRSU to get a Greater Demon or Demon Lord in your party - it helps.) Good Luck! -- -Sean Dees. Sean...@Mindlink.bc.ca

Use DEST on Mangar, DMST on the Demons, and just keep at it. It took >I did, to no avail :( Hm. You don't mention what level your characters are, but I imagine that if you're having as much trouble with spells being repelled as you apparently are, then you may need to ramp up your characters some more before trying to take on Mangar. Here's my strategy, from a veteran BT player: Get Thor in your party as the special member. If you don't know where he is, go to the passageway where two sleeping red dragons awaken and attack you. One square north of that spot, there is a secret door on the left side. Go through it and you'll be confronted by a magic mouth. Answer it and you'll be given a Thor figurine. Activate it and Thor will enter your party. Thor always attacks before ANYONE else, including the enemy monsters, and always critically hits whatever he attacks. 1) Thor will take care of one Demon Lord; use your highest dex character (my monk works best) to attack the other one. 2) Use your other two fighters to attack the two Vampire Lords. 3) Equip your bard with a Flame Horn and use that on the Vampire Lords as well. 4) Use DEST on Mangar. 5) Use DEST on the one remaining Demon Lord; if your highest dex character doesn't kill him, this will. That should take care of the first round of combat. And most of the monsters. Usually after one round the entire combat is over (unless Mangar managed to summon something else before I killed him). Hope this helps! Cheers, -- Phil Carter -- car...@phoenix.cs.uga.edu "Physical strength is no substitute for perception; for perception is the key which unlocks the intangible power of the spirit. One way to up your experience is to get two magic users that can cast mind blade (if I recall correctly). It will hit all groups. Then go to the room in the castle with the 4 groups of 99 beserkers, and cast the spell at them. If your dex is high enough, you'll hit them before they can hit you. After you've killed them off, teleport down two levels, then back up and do it again. It helps to read a book while doing this, since it takes a long time. But you get a LOT of experience. -Jim (who went into BTII with 43rd level characters) P.S. Another nice thing is that selling a magic item and buying it back will recharge it (provided it hasn't broken). Nice to keep that flame horn working.
