You don't mention what level your characters are, but I imagine that if you're having as much trouble with spells being repelled as you apparently are, then you may need to ramp up your characters some more before trying to take on Mangar. Here's my strategy, from a veteran BT player: Get Thor in your party as the special member. If you don't know where he is, go to the passageway where two sleeping red dragons awaken and attack you. One square north of that spot, there is a secret door on the left side. Go through it and you'll be confronted by a magic mouth. Answer it and you'll be given a Thor figurine. Activate it and Thor will enter your party. Thor always attacks before ANYONE else, including the enemy monsters, and always critically hits whatever he attacks. 1) Thor will take care of one Demon Lord; use your highest dex character (my monk works best) to attack the other one. 2) Use your other two fighters to attack the two Vampire Lords. 3) Equip your bard with a Flame Horn and use that on the Vampire Lords as well. 4) Use DEST on Mangar. 5) Use DEST on the one remaining Demon Lord; if your highest dex character doesn't kill him, this will. That should take care of the first round of combat. And most of the monsters. Usually after one round the entire combat is over (unless Mangar managed to summon something else before I killed him).
