Steam - Question re downloading episode 2, Broken sword 5

I bought Broken sword 5 special price for both 1 and 2 episodes a couple of
weeks ago. I downloaded and installed episode 1 which I am still playing.
Under "Annoucements" it says Broken sword Full release now available. Then
says "In this second episode involves blah blah" -describes some of the
story. My problem is two things - it doesnt say where to download episode 2,
or does it mean you have to download both part 1 and 2 of the game, though
it said when I bought the game, I would be notified when episode arrive and
could install it, and sounded like I would install just episode 2 and not
the whole game.

Then I thought I would send a message to Support, and it said we have a high
volume right now, so get a ticket number and we will get back to you - but
when would that be? I can access my account but shows a message saying "I
must not have been on their site for a while and here is a code number I
must use" - more confusion. I was on the website no more than a week ago. my
ID is recognized when I go on Steam website.

I spent about an hour trying to figure this out today and more time other
days. I find Steam webpage in general is very frustrating. First time
dealing with Steam and maybe last. I find Gog website much easier to
navigate and I seldom have to email support, and when I do, support always
gets back to you usually the same day.

Can someone who is familiar with Steam help me to find out where I download
episode 2 of BS 5 or do I have to download the complete game and most of all
how and where do I find it?

Mary

By the sound of it it comes down as an update.
Try this.
In your Steam client right-click the Broken Sword entry and select Properties.
Select the Updates tab.
In the 'Automatic Updates' dropdown select 'High Priority - Always auto update
this
game ASAP'.
Close the Steam client then launch it again. It *should* start downloading the
full version of the game. Good luck :-)

and if you need a savegame:

"Please click
http://revolution.co.uk/downloads/savegames/Scene_23_Hobbs_Yard_Back_Room_Savegame.zip%20
and unzip the two files you need. These will need to be put in the following
location on your computer in order to load the save:
•On Windows, the save games will be found in your "Documents" folder in the
"Broken Sword 5" directory.
•On Linux, they are under .bs5 in your home folder.
•On Mac, they will be under your user profile, via Library>Application
Support>Broken Sword 5. Please note that you may need to make hidden files
visible in order to view these in Finder.

Please load the file up under 'Profile 1' "

The day after I posted the above message, and before I saw your above post,
part 2 of the game was downloaded to my computer when I was in the middle of
doing something -nothing to do with Steam. A window suddenly appeared on the
screen saying "downloading Broken sword 5" or something. I was quite
amazed -I've never had that happen. You were right Mick, it was an update or
episode 2 and not the whole game as I thought might happen, so it took the
same 3 hours to download as part 1, which was good and not the entire game.
I didn't think that would happen. You can see I am not familiar with
downloading games from Steam. this is first time. Gog is much easier for me
to figure out.

I've been playing adventure games for 24 years, where you buy the box with
the CD/DVD inside and put in your CD/DVD rom. Much easier than downloading
and in my experience Steam is hard to figure out and the screen is very
dark. I had to turn the brightness way up more than usual. Gog is much
easier, but in case I need to get a game at Steam sometime, I wanted to see
how it works. After it was downloaded, I also followed your instructions to
see how to download an update from Steam. There are so many choices
everywhere on Steam.

I wasnt sure with some of the terms used on Steam either such as "In your
Steam Client right click" you mentioned. I figured it probably means your
Steam account? Everything is easy when you know how :)

Thank you for your instructions and help. I am still working on Part 1. The
game is quite interesting. Puzzles are not that hard a lot is problem
solving and following the story.Very nice graphics.I like George and
Nico-others were good too.

rms - Thanks for the information above. I didn't need a saved game. Steam
downloaded Part 2 of the game to my computer without me doing anything and
it automatically put part 2 in "My Documents". I've never had any games
downloaded to me without initiating it myself so was surprising to me. I am
playing Part 1 of the game and looked for saved games on my computer but
couldn't find them as I don't look in My Documents very often. You can tell
I am not very familiar with downloading games, and first time from Steam.
Gog is easier for me, but it is good to have knowledge of how Steam works,
in case I need to order sometime.

Good point. I have always made hidden files visible.

I don't know what is meant by "load the file up under "Profile 1". What
file? and where is "Profile 1"? Is it on Steam somewhere? or on my computer
? Thanks.
