Manhunter -- sliding open a door to find someone hanging dead, with flies
buzzing around... simply because I've never found another game with the guts
to create a world so grim.

Zork: Nemesis -- the music-school/boarding-school, in the upstairs dorm with
rain falling on the clear glass roof, the ambient music here is just
beautiful, the atmosphere absolutely entrancing... another world...

Yeah, I really like that (this is not last minute kiss up). I like the
carpet seller and Smiths.

I like that part, too. The deformed kids, right? Maybe it is the
playground games like tic-tac-toe and such make me nostalgic.

I liked the way it built up to the Sarah flashback a bit at a time, as
you talked to each of the kids. There were lots of good touches in
Sanitarium, the evil clown's faces stick in my mind.
I liked the way there were various signs of future hallucinations strewn
throughout the game, very Gilliam-esque. :)

Gabriel Knight 1 :
* The bit where Gabriel asks Grace what she did last night and she said how
she watched an interesting documentary. It ended in retorts about each
other's sex lives. I think it was the beginning of day 5.
* I also liked the final voodoo ceremony bit at the end of the game.
* When Gabriel gets into Malia Geddes house

Broken Sword 1:
* The opening scene
* At Hotel Ubu

Broken Sword 2:
* The scenery bit when George gets to the top of the hill and the "camera"
does a panoramic shot of the scene
* When George finds Nico tied up and teases her.

Toonstruck:
* The bit where the two dogs are showing the main character how objects in
the display case are used.

Black Dahlia:
* When Jim is trying to get the parcel from the postmaster. He gets soooo
frustrated!
* All the easter eggs

The Neverhood:
* Eating fruit off the tree, or whatever that stuff was.
* Getting chased by the giant crab

The Last Express
* I liked going into the dining room during mealtimes and listening to
others' conversations.
* The ending scene

There are so many, but I just can't think of them all at this moment!!
This will have to do...

Memorable scenes that come to mind (and note that this is not an exhaustive
list, nor is it in order). I've decided to limit it arbitrarily to one
scene per game.

Beware, thar be spoilers here.

Zork I:
"You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded
 front door.
There is a small mailbox here."

and Return to Zork's fade-in from the text to the animated graphic of the
white house.

Gabriel Knight 1:
The dream sequence, which keeps getting more and more detailed.

Gabriel Knight 2:
The opera.

Quest for Glory 2:
Paladin's ending.

Quest for Glory 4:
Toby's sacrifice.

Sanitarium:
Hunting for the sister's doll in the ghost house.

Day of the Tentacle:
The beauty contest.

Grim Fandango:
Farewell to Glottis.

Monkey Island 1:
Break-in to Governor Marley's mansion.

Monkey Island 2:
Parents' skeletons perform "Dem Bones".

Monkey Island 3:
The pirate song.

Twinsen's Adventure:
The grand finale.

Loom:
Breaking the loom.

I'm sure there are tons more (and other have been mentioned elsewhere
in this thread), but I'm going to stop here.

- Claude.

IIRC Day 4 is probably the smallest (along with another one later on, I
won't tell which one, it's irrelevant anyway). So, try to focus at the
matter at hand (whichever that is). There aren't much to do anyway. Good
luck.

UUuuuuuuggghhh!!!!

Whenever I think of that evil game the only thing I can think of is MAZE!!

Allegedly, according to the Giant Book of Adventure Games (an early eighties
walkthrough book for many a game), you are supposed to emerge from this
completely random maze --that is one room away from the endgame --
somewhere after the seventy-fifth move. I have literally roamed this maze
for
over two hours and have never left.

My Apple II is now gathering dust and the game has (if there is any justice
in this
world) been banished to some far corner of Hell. Curse your eyes for
bringing
back the pain and the torment to me!!!! :)

My favourite/most memorable adventure gaming scenes (SPOILERS included):

The Secret of Monkey Island - The 'stealing the idol' sequence, meeting
Meathook ('You just don't know when to stop, do you?'
''Looks like neither did your barber.')

Monkey Island 2 - Using the Largo doll, the spitting contest, being chased
by Marley's cook, walking around in the pink costume, hanging above the
acid.

Curse of Monkey Island - Tarred and feathered, 'A Pirate I Was Meant to
Be', meeting Murray, the conversation with King Andre.

Grim Fandango - Meeting Glottis, first seeing the Bone Wagon, the final
scene.

Discworld Noir - getting killed after stealing the golden sword, drawing
the circle connecting all of the murders together.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis - The interactive intro, Kerner
stealing the stone discs, the finale in Atlantis.

Broken Sword - the cliff-top escape in Syria, the train bit.

Day of the Tentacle - getting Doctor Fred out of the upstairs window,
blowing out George Washington's teeth, the tentacle flag ending.

Sam & Max - Bumpusville, the Tunnel of Love.

I dunno...Like I said, I ended up using a walkthrough book, and I tried
playing the game numerous times trying to figure out what I did wrong. I
was a kid at the time though, so it's entirely possible that I messed
something up even with the cheats.

I did enjoy the game up to that point, but to this day it remains one of the
few (no others immediately come to mind -- maybe its the only!!) games I
started but never won. And that's a lot of games! :)

I know I have it somewhere at my parents' house and will probably eventually
go back and complete it, you know, for closure.

I had to wait years to lose the "I have a bad feeling about this" quote from
Raoul. (Is that the sidekicks name?)
Serpent's Star was also very good, but I don't think I finished that.

The opening scene in Bladerunner is my favorite. It opens with
an aerial view of LA after the wars, just like the movie.

Its quite spectacular and very eerie.

I think its noteworthiness is due more to the movie than to
the game itself.
