Witchaven & Tekwar: Modem & Network

The full version of Witchaven (on shelves beginning this week) has
head to head and capture the flag network & modem games. For network
play there's nothing funner than capture the flag with 16 players.
You can have anywhere from two to four teams. Even with just two
modem players capture the flag is highly addictive.

The multiplayer maps vary from small & straightforward (great for
fewer players) to very large with lots of places to hide, deadly
traps, plenty of ambush possibilities, and opportunities to plan and
strategize with your teammates in order to gain victory.

Modem and network play is still under development for Tekwar.
However, we do plan on having coop play in addition to capture the
flag and head to head.

The modem and network maps have more open areas than the single player
maps. In general, open areas mean more work for your system. Some
computers may find this task a bit daunting. There's a helluva lot
going on in a Build Engine game like Witchaven. Much more, in fact
than in the older 3D, first person games. A 486 dx2/66 with a good
video card can handle it reasonably well, though. Obviously a
Pentium with a fast video card and quick hard drive would be ideal.
Such a system is certainly not necessary, though. Anyone who
experiences choppiness should just try another map. Down & Under is a
pretty fast map. Give it a go.
