Magic Carpet 2 is really swell. The graphics are superb, the engine
is really improved, the enemies are interesting and very bright.

That said, I don't really enjoy the "Magic Carpet" experience.

Imagine this... the complexity and beauty of the Magic Carpet
experience, from the ground! The ability to quest throughout that
rich world from foot. Maybe the carpet as a means of transportation.

Throw in the netplay, add a few puzzles and this game becomes AWESOME.
When I saw that caverns level, I wanted to walk around in there.

I hate to say it, but a cross between DOOM, Magic Carpet, and an RPG.
Keep the spells, add some weapons. Bingo! With netplay, enter
multi-player parties solving puzzles, fighting together.

Bullfrog?

Yes, I've had the same thoughts myself. A walking game with the MC engine
could possibly blow DOOM away. I don't know about the RPG part, maybe a lot
of action.

Uh, sounds like you are describing Quake! It's a 1st player game, with
everything you describe, spells, weapons, puzzles, netplay, and possibly
some RPG elements. I didn't find Magic Carpet too fun myself.

REPLY:

Am I the only guy who has seen preview of Dungeon Keeper from Bullfrog.
This game actually looks better than Quake to me (Quake looks quite
good though) and I'm sure it's based off the same engine as MC. DK will
be linkable RPG plus adds in the ability of one of the players being
the Dungeon Master! Not a bad little extra.

The graphics of DK are absolutley unreal, I won't and can't belive my
eyes.

My ? would be I know Quake and Descent 2 are supposed to support the
Diamond Edge Nividia board. But does anybody know if any of Bullfrogs
are gonna handle it as well? Same could be asked of "Need for Speed".
