The platform has existed since the gamecube. Back then it was a real powerhouse. Whatever there intention was, it backfired. The Wii basically was drowned in Shovelware and nobody could find the good titles anymore, although they existed, because the hardware was to weak to port the AAA games of that time, and the installbase was huge with mostly casual gamers (although Okami, my all time Wii favorite was a hardcore PS2 port, but forget generally about XBOX360/PS3 ports on that platform). The Wii-U basically has only a smaller install base of hardcore Nintendo fans hence the shovelware producers stay away from it like a plaque and pester the more successful IOS/Android/Nintendo 3ds devices. But the problem is that the hardware is not good enough to run the most recent bunch of AAA titles no matter what and hence the Wii-U is delegated to its own rather unsuccessful corner of the console universe. As much as I hate some those games, but if a console does not run COD, GTA, Asassins Creed etc... it is bound to fail in the mass market, period. Either way I think Nintendo got the message, their upcoming NX console is supposed to be way more powerful. The Wii-U unfortunately wonΒ΄t make a full 7 years cycle for better or worse.
