Actually Sony the last years also has churned out a number of amazing first party games for their consoles. Besides their usual offerings, they have a bunch of smaller titles for instance the ones from Media Molecule or the studio which programmed Journey which follow similar design principles like Nintendo does. Also they seem to have a good eye on what independend games they fund, some of those in the pipleline look amazing. The best platformer although a little bit short I played the last years was from Sony/Media Molecule on the PS Vita, it was called Tearaway. A five hours game which blended in the camera and pretty much every control the vita has (and it has lots of them) and made a really good platformer out of it. Also if you have a PS3 or PS4 give Journey a try. Excellent game although a little bit on the weird side. But I generally agree Nintendo overall should deserve more credit for their highly underrated Wii-U. They have released a load of excellent first party titles most of them among the best of this console generation. To bad they made the console so weak and lost the entire third party market that way. The Wii-U from a first party perspective is way better than the Wii ever was. The reason simply is that the first party lineup is top notch and there literally is no shovelware on the system.
