They even have postponed christmas releases many >times due to extended quality assurance. Not only do they emphasize quality assurance with regard to functionality (eliminating bugs, making sure there are no crashes or game breaking anamlolies), but their quality assurance starts before any code gets written, making sure the fundamentals of game design are solid. I ended up with a free Wii-U much the same way I ended up with two free XBox 360s. I put just about every purchase I can onto credit cards (but of course always pay the balance in full at the end of the month). With a little careful manipulation, it always ends up with accumulated rewards points, and with one of my CCs the best way to redeem those points is by cashing them in on a gift card to a limited selection of stores. Bestbuy is one of those choices, so every now and then I'll just opt for the best buy card, and next thing you know I've got a couple of $250 cards for the place, yet no real need for anything they carry. So, with Bestbuy cards to burn, I found out that the Wii-U has an online store where you can get a lot of those great retro NES, SNES, N64, original Wii, etc. games on the cheap and play them on a big TV, then I was in like Flynn. I actually still have an SNES and N64 boxed up somewhere and had been thinking about trying to hook them up but wasn't looking forward to fiddling with wired controllers, outdated connectivity options, etc. Aside from a handful of retro titles, I occasionally jump in for a round of Super Mario 3D World. Regardless of how anyone feels about platformers, the whole Mario/Donkey Kong heritage, and cartoonish visuals, if one plays the game with an eye toward game design and quality, it is a truly amazing piece of gaming art, just like most everything else they do is. Kind of a shame they don't get more credit. I couldn't replace PC gaming with the Wii-U, it's a different kind of gaming, but IMO it is the best console offering.
