Yeah it generally looks like closer to Sanctuary, the easier, though there's some anomalies (like the first quest!), which is good, it makes it interesting.

Sneak didn't seem to work well for me, I was having trouble with groups.
I could take out one raider or whatnot, but then I got swarmed. Maybe
I just don't have the patience.

My current one is a high End melee type, with toughness, which I pretty
much slaughter everything - other than the aforementioned Super-mutants
so far. I do sneak some, just to get up as close as I can before taking
too much damage. I've also got the perk that makes me harder to hit
when sprinting, which helps. I still do better using Vats even with
melee, as aim that close is difficult. I'll probably miss about 1/3 of
my attacks if not using Vats.

I'm working toward Blitz right now, hopefully that'll make Vats
distance attacks work better, so I don't have to shoot things I can't get
to easily.

Obviously many different builds are viable, which I like, it means I'll
be able to replay the game.

Yeah that was bad, the suicider took out more than half my health, and
a rocket immediately after, and since I'm mostly melee I couldn't kill
him before he got to me. I haven't tried those again, but may go back
with some med-x, psycho, and power armor. There's an awful lot to
explore that I can take though, so may just leave that for awhile.

One thing I do like about the way the skills work, is everything is
still viable. I can still shoot things fine, I shoot bloodbugs as they
seem resistant to melee, and do way too much damage in bleed if they hit
me, sure I'm not as good at it as someone focused on a type of gun, but
it's good enough that it gives me options, unlike FO3 where you couldn't
hit the broad side of a barn if you didn't focus on it. I bought a
really good sniper rifle last night, and I was even able to take out
a raddoe with it as it ran away.

Yes, I'm mainly wishing there were some way to scrap everything I dump
in the workshop now. I did accidentally find if you press left or right
in the trading/storing menus it shows you just one type of item, like
junk, misc, etc. which helps. I spent about 2 hours last night just reorganizing all my stuff, scrapping all my junk, and trying to sell
stuff.

I also wish my settlers would equip the armor & weapons I gave them. They're idiots, explains why I'm a general now.
