Does anyone have a list of item weights for the original X-COM? I believe they were included in the Official Strategy Guide. I'm playing this classic again (after many years) and would like to know how much equipment my soldiers can manage without becoming encumbered. Thanks in advance.

I think you can find it out using one of the ufoedit programs.

I picked up a rare, used Playstation version for like $2. It's slow and clunky, but easier than trying to de-tune a high-speed Pentium. Needless to say, I'm not using any cheats or editors.

I always just make them carry what they need. They seem to get strong enough to carry what I demand after just a couple of missions. So if there's a weak guy scouting with someone else then he may not have enough time units left for an auto opportunity shot but that's okay. For special carrying assignments, I just change the last name of my strongest guy in that crew to "Strong".

That's sort of the point of asking. I'm looking to max out the carrying capacity of my weaker soldiers in order to increase their strength without encumbering them too much. I'd also like to know just how many autocannon reloads my "strong" guys can handle without sacrificing TU's. And just how heavy is a plasma cannon anyway? Will I still have space for a med-kit and a few grenades? If so, how many? Can anyone with an OSG help me out?

XCOM item weights: well a Heavy Plasma rifle is lighter than all the "real" heavies. The way it goes is this for weights: RIfle >heavy plasma rifle>autocannon>heavy cannon>rocketlauncher Note that Heavy and incendiary rockets are REALLY heavy. What I do is only give dudes 1 ammo clip or 2 rockets if they are weak, and leave more in the ship as need, so they can come back for it. Rough guide is a dude with 30+ strength can carry any heavy weapon and 1 round/clip of ammo (except heavy/incendiary rockets) without any real problem, probably get away with 2 spare clips form about 35 strength or more without any or few TUs being lost. Only dudes with 40+ strength can carry heavy/incediary rockets without losing a lot of time units. -- Silverblades Suitcase www.silverblades-suitcase.com I'd rather be a Fool who believes in Dragons, than a King who believes in Nothing
