Hello, residents of alt.games.x-com! I am Greenish_9 (an internet nick, obviously) and I have recently discovered this newsgroup. I have to say, it seems to be a very mature, controlled enviroment - no flaming or trolling at all! It is also extremely interesting to find other people's opinions on the XCOM games. Just for future reference, my favourite of the series was X-COM: Apocalypse (sure, it was bugged, had a lot of odd, unfinished items, but it WAS released earl, after all...cheers, Microprose...;) ) although I also own UFO: Enemy Unknown (or XCOM: UFO defense) and demos of TFTD and Interceptor. I am extremely interested in the game that is being planned here. It is being very well thought out, and seems very ambitious, to say the least! I love the ideas that are being proposed, and, after some thought, I might even have some of my own! Anyway, I'm just writing to say 'hi' and introduce myself, as some newsgroups dislike people just turning up and posting...so there you go, now you can't complain! C Ya! Hi, Greenish_9 and welcome to the XCOM base of operations, so to speak. As you have been reading the previous messages here, especially regarding the alleged remake, why not add your own views and suggestions to the group? We are getting some interesting ideas, if for no one else's benefit, it keeps expanding our wish list for a remake. Incidentally, here is a message I received from MPS regarding my enquiries as to the 'remake'. As follows: Well, I will be looking into this myself, because I have not heard of anything about this myself but y ou know when you are the low one on the toedem pool you get everything after everyone else. chazz ++Ends++ Yep, the spelling mistakes are part of the message - cut and paste, y'see. Seems odd, not exactly what I would call an in depth reply, almost as if it was rushed...? Anyway, thats from the support unit, so your guess is as good as mine as to the current situation at MPS - maybe they're bailing water to pay attention to customer queries ;-) Still, its about time a few of the regulars took time to contribute again - Solice has been quiet recently, maybe I outbid him ;-) Detonate

Hi Shaun
Thanks for introducing yourself, and we hope you'll be
visiting (and contributing) us often. Yes as you can probably tell we are a
fairly new newsgroup and the topics vary, (but all happily remain x-com
based) so please voice your opinions and likes and dislikes about anything
to do with x-com

What I would really like to see is the grenade option from Xcoma incorporated (20% to prime)because it seems much more realistic than using up 50% of tu's (to prime) in Ufo & TFTD. It also would be neat if the aliens attack other miltary outposts in addition to Xcom bases(think of the fireworks in that senario!)as you try to defeat the aliens & protect tha base's soldiers. But most of all I think a better defensable first base at the start would just be grand : hhhhaxxxx a=access lift hhhh xxxx H=hanger hhhh xxxx x=everything else hhhh hhhh yes I did get this from both the unofficial faq & official guides, its just plain common sence imho. AS for multiplayer ,why notstart everyone off with a rookie as your starting charater(10-14 players),then as your toon grows in rank ,you get to command others :) just my .02 John -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum
