I'm in the mission where you're escorting the Victory out of the hostile
area and mid-mission you find out the Kilrathi have "closed the jump
point". How do I keep the Victory in one piece after that? I can make
it to one jump point beyond the "closed jump" announcement and all of a
sudden I get a "Mayday!" from the Victory -- then it's destroyed. I've
been using Cobra on my wing in the hopes that her hate for the Kilrathi
will give her a little "battle rage".

The corvette (I think it's a corvette) in the area fires a Skipper missile
at Victory. Take it out and you'll be fine.

Mayday is the big clue here. Do you remember those *nasty* skipper
missles? Good! Time to shoot down another one... before it gets to the
Victory.

Cobra on your wing is a good choice. Use a Thunderbolt & Switch out
your heat-seekers for IR's. At Nav 1 kill the carrier fast to prevent
more waves from launching. Arm torpedos before heading to Nav 2 & take
out the Corvette first before it can launch it's skipper missle at the
Victory. If the Corvette manages to fire the skipper go after that &
let your wingman have everything else.

What, you think the Kilrathi have only ONE skipper missle?

Hi !

You have to look for Skipper Missiles. One corvette shoot at the Victory with
such an terrible weapon.

I think that's the mission in which a Corvette launches one of
those pesky skip missles.

What ya need to do is, check your radar for a little yellow
dot, when you see one get it into view. Then keep on pressing T;
and if you see a missle flying twords the Victory with a yellow
box around it. You've got a little job to do....

You need to chase it down and blow it up with your lasers.
Now what out, because that baby likes to jump in, and out of
cloak. So you might not be able to see it the whole time. When
it is in view, that yellow box will be around it. [Note: Can't
use your tracking missles on this one :( ]

If you hear "May-day, may-day!" Then the skipper has hit
home. I think it only launches one of those twords the Victory,
so all you have to do is get that one and you'll be in the
clear.

By the way: Take Maniac on that mission. He may not listen to
ya, but believe it or not, he's the best wingman you got.

There's another, easier option: Save your torpedo and use it on the
corvette right away. It won't have time to launch the skip missile.

I'm ashamed to admit it... but *I* took Maniac... yeah... he's an
asshole, and he sucks, and he's only good for comic relief... but he
also kills pilots faster than shit! Plus... while you can't make him
stay on your wing, you CAN get him to attack the target you specify...
which means you can finish fighters quickly...

Only other tip... learn to kill fighters faster...
