OK, I give up. I'm stuck in the mission where you are escorting a transport to a jump point and you're attacked by a Covette and some fighters and a skip missile has been fired. I've tried lurking around the transport but can't get a bead on the missile as it comes in by gun or by my missile. I've tried flying a Thuderbolt and charging at the Corvette at full afterburn and then launching a torpedo. I can kill the Corvette but not before it seems to get off it's Skip missile. While I'm racing back to defend the transport it gets hit before I get there. Any suggestions? Jim the Red

The best formed ships in the game are the Arrow and Longbow (unless the Excalibur is available). I mean, the Arrow has the exact same weaponry as a Hellcat PLUS two missiles and about 100kph. The Longbow's just a tank... it takes an enemy FOREVER to get through its shields. I usually take an Arrow, even if I could take a Thunderbolt. For hunting down Skippers, the Arrow is DEFINITELY the best choice. Why? Well, for one thing, the weapons are more accurate since they're right under your cockpit. And the second thing is that *Arrows are FASTER than Skippers*. I found this out at Locanda IV where I hit my afterburners after the first Skipper and nearly rammed it from behind. Since you usually know a Skipper's target, it really doesn't matter if it cloaks.. Just get your Arrow to the ship that originally fired the Skipper, then turn your fighter towards the missile's target. Then it's just chasing the missile until it uncloaks again. Here is something that I just recently wrote to another guy with the same problem: -- The skipper is too small for missile lock so you have to down it with guns. My tactics is: - head directly towards the Corvette with afterburners - tell your wingman to 'break and attack' - lock to Corvette with L - watch the radar to spot the yellow dot of a missile - keep hitting T to find the missile (Caps Miss) - try to shoot the damn thing - it usually cloacks and flies past before it can be hit - make a sharp 180 (turn of afterburners when turning to keep alignment with the missile's path towards the transport) - engage afterburners when heading is back to the transport - when the skipper uncloaks you should me right behind it within gun range It uncloacks only three times before impact. -- carpe diem Juha

For the mission on Locanda IV I took out a Thunderbolt. Before boosting after the first Skipper, I ensured that it would be the ONLY Skipper getting loose. I dropped a torp down the Destroyer's throat then just boosted straight line-of-sight straight after the missile...I locked on and just hosed it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- English/Philosophy Daniel King - djk...@chat.carleton.ca =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
