A bit underwhelming, tbh, sadly it's as I expected from beta reports. Probably suits people with other playstyles, but I have to admit I'm bored, which has never happened me this early in an expansion. Feels like everything is either gated behind cds, or else is long mindless grinds. Now I don't always mind grinding, else I wouldn't have so many exalted reputations, but it feels like there's just too much of that. I've been trying to work out why it feels so flat and I think it's the lack of story/purpose, tbh - there's so much interesting stuff while levelling, that I want to learn more about these places/peoples, and I just don't. The one daily: kill stuff here, gives absolutely no background to the enemy of the day, or why we want to attack them in particular. The factions just have no engagement; in MoP, many of the factions had a storyline that actually progressed as you went along (Dominance Offensive/Operation Shieldwall was the highlight, Isle of Thunder and Tillers were also very engaging), whereas now, it's just, grind mobs, if you accidentally hit upon ones that give rep (having been given no direction at all by any faction NPCs), then grind those. Oh and if you want to see a garrison invasion, enjoy grinding mobs which give you no rep, and no benefit at all to grinding them other than the remote chance of an invasion. I'm just disappointed really, MoP was perfect for my preferences in the game, and I'd hoped that given the amazing setting, WoD would follow on from that in a positive manner. Levelling was fantastic, but it just feels like they stopped at that point and said "that'll do, no need for anything at 100". Well sure, there's no need for it for some types of player (I guess Lewis for example has no problems with this as he's often said he doesn't care for the story!), but for me personally, it feels very disappointing. I hope 6.1 and Tanaan Jungle come sooner rather than later, hopefully that'll suit me better.

The my initial response is that the personal 'fort' and the supplies it provides, is that it is well suited to a PvP player. I have a friend who rarely, if ever, is a PvP player. His analysis mirrors yours, Catriona R. One of my big questions, when and how do we learn to fly? Vetred, on the Steamwheedle server

In all fairness I really like the garrison, it's just a shame everything in it involves waiting for stuff to happen, it feels like the free games I play on my phone. Fun, but the kind of thing you log in, do your tasks, and log out again. And it's disappointing to find my professions, which I used to love, are now also in that category: wait for cds, you can't do anything else until you've waited for enough cds to finally have the insane amount of mats required to make one thing... :-( >I have a friend who rarely, if ever, is a PvP player. His analysis >mirrors yours, Catriona R. I was perhaps feeling a bit negative when I wrote it - there *are* fun things, it's just I don't have the level of interest I usually do at this stage in an expansion. Perhaps my tolerance for massive grinds has reduced... or perhaps in the past the grinds were mixed in with other stuff so didn't feel as intimidating: right now all I can see is huge grinds, or dungeon quests, which aren't really very appealing either (I've actually tried a few dungeons this time out, out of 6 tries, I left 2 early due to awful groups, not a very good hitrate to encourage me to keep trying...) On a more positive note, I've just brought Nat Pagle to my Fishing Shack, that was a grind to get that far, but fun to feel I've achieved something! Also got my lovely blue peacock pet from the catching all the battle pets achievement, I love pet battles and I'm glad to see there's plenty to do with them here, I really need to get down to more battling so I can get my mengaerie lvl 3 :-) >One of my big questions, when and how do we learn to fly? Right now, we don't. Possibly, in a future patch, possibly not, depends how Blizz think it's working. At present, I'm enjoying being on the ground, so have no objection to it lasting a while - had they not ruined gathering by making the Mine overproductive, and professions so gated by cds that nobody needs much ore (where's my prospecting? That'd create an instant market for ore!), then I'd be missing it more, as there'd be a ton of competition for veins, and I much prefer flying when I'm gathering. However, as it is, nobody cares about veins and I can pick up tons on the ground anyway! Never thought I'd find myself just ignoring any which take the slightest effort to reach but... they're not worth anything.

At the moment, we're in a bit of a pause - most of us have our mains at 100, we're doing the dungeons, and the Apexis Crystal daily, but there isn't much else. I'm playing with the Garrison - it seems less useful than I hoped, though the body guard is welcome. But... I sort of feel that the Garrison thing will soon outlive its usefulness. The followers aren't much help except in the non-instanced world, and the benefits derived from it don't seem to be significant to even a low-level raider. I'm using it mainly to generate AC to buy gear, and to build up my bodyguard. I wonder if I'll essentially abandon it at some point. pt

For some people, that'll help a lot, for me, less so. I do LFR a bit, sure, but that's a small proportion of my WoW time. The things I enjoy most: factions - completely gutted, not even a hint of a storyline behind any of them, just mindless grinding; professions, ruined, have to wait for immense cds before you can craft anything at all, things I used to make and sell have no value due to oversupply; dailies (kinda come under factions) - gone, aside fromm one which takes hardly ay time at all and has no real purpose behind it. Pet battles and archaeology remain, but those are not and never have been the majority of my gameplay, you can have too much of both of those! >I'm playing with the Garrison - it seems less useful than I hoped, >though the body guard is welcome. > >But... For me, the benefits are great; I'm wearing three items I got from missions, and I don't even have the high-end missions yet, I got a 645 staff on beta! But then I don't like dungeons at all and my LFR is limited, so getting gear from missions is great fun to me. Also like the odd times where you get currency, the Apexis crystal reward was cool, and I really want to get the Halaa battle token mission! >I'm using it mainly to generate AC to buy gear, and to build up >my bodyguard. I wonder if I'll essentially abandon it at some >point. For me, it's about the only thing which is really interesting me at present, so I certainly hope I don't lose interest anytime soon. Working on the achievements whould help em there, at least, will be stuff to do for a while yet on that front.

So I guess the complete silence round here lately indicates either I'm not alone in being a bit bored, else everyone else is too busy playing to post? ;-) In fairness, there *are* things to do, it's just what seems to remain for me is the grindy kinda things that I like doing in between more exciting things, and those more fun things are missing for me. I love pet battles and archaeology - in moderation. I love repgrinds, in moderation. At present it feels like those are all that's here for me, oh well, we get Raid Finder tomorrow, hopefully that'll at least fill an hour or two! Really wish we had more storyline and interaction with the world, whenever I go to places I keep thinking "that looks awesome, I want to know more about it", but we never get given reasons for going there or background to them. I want to know way more about the Everbloom and the Botani, for example, and I really want to do more stuff with the arakkoa; Reshad and Percy were fantastic characters, they seem to be hanging out in my garrison now, can't they give me a fun questline with more arakkoa story? Roll on 6.1, in the meanwhile I'm finding a few things to do, but really feel like I'm going into end of expansion, killing time till new one mode... 3 weeks into the new expansion. Hmmm. Oh and I'd hoped for the Hearthstone expansion to reduce my boredom level a bit, but we in Europe only got it 24 hours after the US, with a huge amount of silence from Blizzard about this delay... apparently it's finally up now, I'm about to try, but expecting problems :-P

Raiders will get gear so they dont have to grind apexis for 655 gear anymore. Followers are geared up etc. After the initial garrison phase where you build and level up your plots your mats and resources will explode in your bags once your have more than 1 lvl 100 char (thats what is happening here with 3 100s). The follower/mission aspect is fun. But it reminds me too much of those games you can play and facebook and/or your phone (farmville etc.). If you want progress and level and gear up your followers you have to check the game all the time. I also miss the main city where I see other players. I *can* move my arse to Stormshield (ally), but I spend most of my time in the garrison. So I feel a bit alone. The /trade chat is shown when youre in the garrison. but its still not fun. Luckily Blizzard has hotfixed the hc dungeon quests acquired from the Inn so peeps cant leave and hand in their quests anymore without also killing the _last_ boss. Many players still havent found out that and yesterday I was in 4 or 5 dungeons where players just left after they completed a hc quest. Seeing tank and 1-2 other players leaving a group after we had killed the bonus boss (a part of a heroic quest) in Everbloom was annoying as this can be a pug breaker == waste of time. -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

Hah, most of them won't be grinding it anyway, unless stats on other gear types are much better than those on cloth - with the emphasis on secondary stats this time out, I look at the apexis gear and think most of it's worthless :-/ Got 2 pieces, and upgraded one to epic, but with most of them the stats mean that unless I got them up to 655, they're worse than if I don't get them and keep my blues. So removing reforging was supposed to improve things... nope, made a lot of gear into trash instead lol. > Followers are geared up etc. >After the initial garrison phase where you build and level up your plots >your mats and resources will explode in your bags once your have more >than 1 lvl 100 char (thats what is happening here with 3 100s). Heh I'm finding that with 1 lvl 100 and a couple of low 90s tbh, only thing I'm much short on is herbs, but once prices came down enough to just buy them instead of trying to feed my scribe from my main's harb garden, that was fine :-) >The follower/mission aspect is fun. I don't greatly mind that bit as I've always hated crowds anyway, it's nice being alone. I do however miss having reasons to go out into the open world, there's just not much that's very compelling to get me out there - there's my fairly pointless apexis daily, now I've built the stables I have those dailies too, and that's it, anything else means I have to feel like bothering to do a mindless grind for a bit. Even on a super high pop server I don't see huge numbers of otherpeople aywhere other than the apexis daily areas, so I guess I'm not alone in not having much reason to get outside, a real shame when so much of the world looks fantastic! >Luckily Blizzard has hotfixed the hc dungeon quests acquired from the >Inn so peeps cant leave and hand in their quests anymore without also >killing the _last_ boss. Many players still havent found out that and >yesterday I was in 4 or 5 dungeons where players just left after they >completed a hc quest. That's a good fix for people who were doing them in groups, and needed. It's a bad fix for people like me who were having fun finding ways to solo many of them - invis pots plus that temp stealth ring from SMV to grab an item was fun! I do need to actually do the rest of those quests sometime, but my usual dislike of 5-mans has held me back; the levelling normals were pretty fun tbh, but I hit a bad group in Everbloom and that put me off again (I don't get why anyone would want to walljump to skip a few packs on *normal* mode, and if they really had to, perhaps bothering to explain the route to the other four members of the group who were clearly new to the place, it being normal mode, one week into a new expansion, might've helped... as it was I quit after several minutes trying to get up this stupid wall, and never went back)

And a fresh disappointment - LFR is so ridiculously easy, ignore all mechanics, bosses die, nobody in group looks even close to dying. I know the elitists look down on LFR saying it's easymode and all that, but it actually wasn't that easy to the group it was intended for in the past, Garalon, Durumu, Lei Shen - those guys had mechanics and if you screwed them up you died, even if the rest of the group could get through it with half the group dead. It felt like the mechanics mattered. This one... doesn't. Nobody came close to dying, even the AFK guy standing in a fire never got below 50%... didn't feel like I really needed to heal, all I was doing was topping up, not saving lives. I hope Blackrock Foundry is better than Highmaul, if not, they've ruined another thing I really enjoyed :-(

Sounds familiar, I got all the followers I could, but a lot of days I don't do more than my missions and the one daily. Today being Wednesday I did the worldboss and LFR too - yeah those were a bit boring, I won't be doing LFR past however long it takes me to get bare minimum gear in each slot. >I don't LIKE the garrison stuff, but it's there and simple enough to do >and I figure I might as well since KidToo insisted I renew so both kids >could play together. > >I haven't even done Molten Core yet because I can't be bothered to go >farm a couple of pieces of gear to get to ilvl 610. The LFR version of Highmaul is too easy and boring. Pure tank and spank. But I've just participated in 3 boss kills on normal. Much more fun due to the mechanics which you dont see in lfr. The mechanics was easy to learn, but still fun. Especially Tectus. :) -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

Especially Tectus. :) I may have to try normal, if there's any pugs out there who'll take someone without achievement... those tend to be hard to find lol. There's certainly no fun to be had in LFR, sleepwalk your way to free loot, not really what I wanted, although maybe it'll get better later on. In fairness we were well filled with high end raider types going on healthpools and some of the sarky comments about it, so perhaps if we were more filled with people at the intended gear lvl (heck, even I'm 20 ilvls above it, wasn't hard to reach!) it mightve been less mindnumbingly dull. Just seemed like none of the attacks did much dmg though, and mechanics seemed pointless, I'll try and find some courage to look for a Normal group soon I guess, hate trying to find pugs but I'm clearly not going to find much satisfaction from LFR in Highmaul! The group finder feature should help me a lot there, it's way less painful finding groups through it than the oldfashioned way.

All the new stats seems to be crappy for most classes. I focus on my mage atm and most of the gear I get has this crappy versatility stat on it... Honestly. I loved this expansion the first 2 weeks. But now I start hating this expansion more and more. Blizzard has screwed up the game with all those farmville aspects amongst many other things. I simply dont enjoy it anymore. So if I dont find any new aspects in this game I havent seen before or Blizzard introduces new aspects in the game I quit. -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

If I dont take care of the work orders I feel I get left behind. And if I dont raid I have to build salvage yard and hope for some epics. That is done by taking care of your followers all the time as I need to get even more loot boxes from the missions to salvage. And then there is the resource issue as I will running low asap if I dont make a sharp and precise schedule right away. Et cetera... All in all. If I want to play this expansion and have some progression at a fair and enjoyable speed I have to be online 24/7. -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

Same, it's a nice stat for soloing, but since it makes more sense to gear for grouping, as anything does ok for soloing, then it's my worst stat according to basically every guide I can find. And almost all the apexis gear has it on... >Honestly. I loved this expansion the first 2 weeks. But now I start >hating this expansion more and more. I know how you're feeling, it's the first time I've really found myself not enjoying an expansion much. I've got things to do, but a lot of things I liked are gone or ruined, and my chocies feel so limited- I'm already running old raids for mounts again, that's supposed to be an end of expansion time filler, not something I do one month in...

Never really felt like that, I just don't care if I get behind it's a much healthier way to look at it. Salvage yard isn't meant to be a way to get epics, so stop stressing about that side of it - it's so very unlikely to drop anything that you're only wasting time trying, you'd do just as well farming lvl 100 mobs and hoping for a drop. The point of the yard is to get gear for your followers, not you, so they can do missions which reward gear - and even that is not 100%, but it's certainly better than trying to get gear direct from the yard; I've actually had some missions that gave me nice items, haven't had anything from the yard yet, nor do I expect to. Plenty low lvl items, but nothing for 100. Primarily, the followers you don't need to worry about that much, doing more missions doesn't make the good ones spawn any faster, and the lvl 100 missions have long durations anyway, so log in a couple of times a day and that's plenty if you don't want to do more :-) Followers and missions is the one part of WoD which I really do enjoy, it's just a shame mostly I'm sitting waiting for missions to end rather than actively doing stuff.

After logging in, checking the garrison on 4 chars and logging out again I decided to cancel my subscription. Incredible and surprisingly easy for me to do that. :) Maybe I'm just burned out after leveling 4 chars in less than 1 month. But I have nothing to do besides taking care of the garrison. Lumber a bit, emptying crates at the salvage yard, sending followers on even more missions etc. The guild have started raiding without me (6/7 norm, 1/7 hc atm - prolly 7/7 norm and 3/7 or 4/7 hc this week) and I dont even care much about it. Well. Last week's little norm run for me was fun, but not that hilarious. Today I did Tarlna on my main despite it felt more like a burden than a pleasure. Tonight is my guild's raid night. But I decided to say yes thanks to some extra hours at work tonight. that wouldnt have happen 6 months ago. That was the sign. Cancel sub. Pewpew. :) Oh well. The game in my signature went live yesterday. And its fickin' fackin' fuckin' FUUUUUN! =) -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

I'm still finding a few things to do, but it's like end of expansion mode for me, just find stuff to do to tide me over till 6.1... feels like a huge letdown when every other expansion I've been having tons of fun the first few months. I really hope they announce 6.1 soon, and that it has more things to do in it, I miss having tons of choice!

The mechanics >was easy to learn, but still fun. Especially Tectus. :) Hah, well, after my complaints... LFR 2nd wing is MILES better. Tectus was fun, tons of dmg and argh, line of sight on dying people lol, felt like absolute chaos but it was actually fun. Other two bosses were similar, total chaos, run around, crap on floor everywhere, random attacks, ok, I didn't really understand the whole of the tactics frankly, but, it was fun. Felt like my heals were valuable, as people took so much dmg, felt like trying to not stand in crap was a good idea, as stuff actually hurt a bit this time, and overall, just felt like it should do on LFR: easy enough to kill stuff first time, yes, but where mechanics and playing properly do count and do make a difference. Thank goodness for that, I was down enough about the lack of solo content without losing LFR too, now I've got one thing to look forward to each week!

Yep, I usually like anything Blizzard does, but even I'm badly disappointed with this one, finding some things to do, but it's a struggle, never been like this before. I'm playing far less than I should be at this stage in the expansion, just not enough to do to hold my interest well, and I have a feeling I'm far from alone, even though there are a few very vocal defenders of WoD on the official forums who do seem happy with it. I had three friends return for WoD, all are logging in less and less, mainly doing LFR and then only logging on to run old content; I keep seeing ICC, Naxx, ZA etc as locations. Not anywhere on Draenor, except the garrison. It won't be long before I'm back to playing alone I think, this won't hold any of them in for long.
