Curious what others think of them! I've gone over my main server characters, two accounts so 22 total. Six weren't affected, leaving 16, and the hitrate isn't good, considering Blizzard repeatedly said they're supposed to feel like "our characters but better" (paraphrasing). Like a lot: troll male x2, UD male, dwarf male, draenei female Although draenei female's eyes are wrong, I've got used to those one beta by now. Troll and dwarf run animation is a bit bad, too. Like, but it's not my character: troll female x3, tauren male Actually, I love the troll female faces, they're awesome, if slightly different to before! My favourite hairstyle looks awful now though, and while my next favourite is unscathed, it feels wrong at present, need to get used to it. Tauren is unrecognisable but a trip to the barber shop made him look good, just not "my" character. Don't like, but can put up with: nelf female, human female Nelf female looks male now, human female has way too high eyebrows and a ditzy look on her face. Really don't like: Human male x2, dwarf female x2, orc male A bit surprised by the orc, as they are much improved models, but then I've never really liked orcs; I just can't get any face to look right. Dwarf females look stoned and very fat-faced, frankly they make me think of hozen. Human, urgh, my first main is just so far from what he used to be. I had hopes of saving my other human, as he'd always had a good moustache/beard which would hide some of the face... well I hadn't realised how truly awful the facial hair options look. Bleh. All five of these can only be saved by racechanging/rerolling :-( So, only 1/3 live up to "my" characters but "better". Just over 1.2 are "better", if I take time to get used to them, while 1/3 are so bad I just want to bin them. That's a massive letdown, I'd really expected better than that, even knowing how had one or two of the models were. I'm just glad I didn't have a gnome female, or the hitrate would've been even worse...

Human males suck, which means all my characters suck. We are used to exaggerated cartoon characters, in this game and elsewhere. The closer they try to get to anything like real human the more they run into creepy response. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley

Erk, playing one a bit now, they've screwed up the casting animation, I jerk backwards as the cast ends, like I've just been hit, even when I'm hitting a harmless target dummy. Hopefully that's an obvious enough bug that'll it'll get fixed...

I haven't seen all my chars, but my human was dead ugly . She even was more butterfaced then before. SO first thing I did was change her appearance. Then I checked my mage. Alas the game died a bit before I could change her. When I logged in on my blood elf I was relieved. She looks ok I have to relearn so many new classe, no mana costs atm for druid, but also no more innervate, so lets hope they dont nerf mana too much. My priest heals, still not that good yet, have to practice. At least my dk still rocks, just too bad the animation is bugged. I just died for the first time in a long time on Ordos - not sure if there weren't many healers in the raid, or we were all crap, but I usually get healed up instantly when I get hit with anything, this time I only noticed I was low on health as I was falling to my death :-) Looks like I have to get used to aoe/smart heals being rather less common than before and not just spam dps! >oops i meant my mage is a gnome. she looks really different.Just checked >my orc, she looks a bit meaner. The female human is just about tolerable, I don't like it but it's less bad than some, they all look surprised and a bit ditzy, but that's better than the stoned dwarves and depressed gnomes! Alliance females really came out of this one badly, only the draenei actually looks nice imo, and even she doesn't look the same as before. It's really disappointing to me that the models I think look great are really a minority: dwarf male/draenei female is all that worked on alliance for me, while on Horde troll m/f, UD male, orc female all look good, tauren male is pretty cool too, though not too similar to the old model. If I played mainly alliance I'd be turning the new models off, as it is I think most of my alliance alts will be gathering dust for a while.

Well. I see my chars very close on the char selection screen. But in the game I'm always zoomed out at max range so my own char (which I always see from behind!) and other chars are just grouped pixels. Better or worse models dont affect my gameplay or experience. Honestly. I dont see any reason for the new models. Its like Blizzard says "hey! We can make a detailed moustache because we can!!!". you cant see all the details anyway unless you play the game from a first-person point. But I'm sure there are loads of peeps around who needs to upgrade their video card just because the moustache has become more detailed and therefore demand more powah due to the new gfx engine. When that is said; my gnome lock's new face looks pretty dumb. I wouldnt allow my gnome in any raid because he looks like a dizzy neanderthal on a heroine trip. :) -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

I'm rather glad I shifted my bias to Horde some time back, when I had more friends active over thee (both sides are equally dead now), up until yesterday, I always felt Alliance had the better looking races, and the whole feel of the faction suited me better... now I'm kinda glad I'm on horde, I've only got one horde alt that I seriously dislike his looks and as an orc deathknight, I can just find some suitably menacing helm to hide his face, anyway! I've only got two alliance alts left that I even like... :-/

Well, it's done because when you look at a pandaren, and then look at the worst of the old models (tauren and human male come to mind), the difference is enormous, and a lot of us wanted our older races to look as good as the pandaren. Just a shame a lot of them don't; a key part of the process was supposed to be keeping the look and feel of our old characters, and they just plain failed at that in a lot of cases. >When that is said; my gnome lock's new face looks pretty dumb. Games seem to do that to improve and enhance and update. double density, more rendering depth, 8 times the load because it is hardware , mostly not their cost and happening year on year. But little extra in game play crafting Something else is wrong. I am running much the same fps, cpu is at about 35 percent on one core, less on the others. Yet it seems like wandering around in an old style flicker film. or on drunk potion. It is not animating smoothly but jumping. Those 4? columns in timeless you jump to get to a chest. Just last week I did them, pretty easy, maybe a miss but often straight through. Now I tried about 10 times, never once able to get past the third. Usually not even getting the first. I ride, I jump and it just does not jump in time. Tried going early, still nothing. Ping is normal, cpu is normal. It is like there is a half second gate on actions, do something and it may delay half or 1/4 or be instant, depending how close the gate was. Simple delay I am used to, this is random within limits.

I prefer the cartoon style. Wild Star has it. But like everything else in the game also the models goes more real, dull and boring. :) There is a reason why I still farm vanilla raid mogs. -- Peter T. <https://www.elitedangerous.com/>

Even on a high-resolution monitor. I guess you don't run a standard UI then, because I see my face in the portrait all the time :-P Plus I *like* to zoom in and look at my character when I'm not doing anything much, waiting for a rare, sitting on a flightpath, etc :-) I've fixed my orc DK now, transmogged a fullface helm on him, luckily orcs and deathknights look suit that kind of helm. Normally I never show helm, or only show ones which barely cover the face, hate having my character's face covered, but right now... it's a more attractive option lol. I'm just waiting to see if Blizz plan to do anything more with these models, frankly I don't really want to give them my money right now, after such a poor display, but equally I've got 5 characters I really want to change.

Various adjustments for buffering, frame rates, input lag, ping optimisation, resolution , most of which affect others. Even though the ctrl-r rate would hardly change the effects could be very great. It was running in HD 1920x1080 50-80fps depending on what was ultra and what details I was happy to do without. Now it is in 1280x?? 30fps. I don't actually need high res, mostly I am looking at large icons and text anyway but it used to comfortably handle it so I left it at whatever options I had worked out. I know I don't have the latest top level graphics, I only have end of 2013, but it was quite peachy for my needs last week. I can't see any justification to pay $1000 a year for new cards and another $200 a year in power to keep up with a $180 a year game. I do run multiple monitors and often have streams, remote log screens, tv etc running while wow is on. That may have given it the wobblies, but it WAS fine last week and I am not going to run wow standalone. A bit happier. But much faffing about just for a hairy moustache graphic that isn't being rendered now anyway.

Ok, what I really don't get: my human male rogue's stealth animation looks much like it always did, they got that right. So why on earth does his run look so absolutely awful? They're clearly capable of making animations look much the same, as stealth is fine! Most races now have runs which just look wrong, all bouncy or just plain weird, it's so bad that I misidentify some races when I just see a shape running along in the distance because it looks so far off what I expect; I thought a male tauren was a draenei the other day... :-/ Funny how robes disguise the feel of a run, too, my UD priest seems much the same, I only realised it's not when I got halloween costumes with no robe lol, skeleton costume uses old animation, pirate uses new... ok, they're different hehe. Doesn't look too bad, which is probably why I didn't notice, but it is different!
