What-a-monster !

Hello,

I just got to the level where the seven
artifacts are joined and this nasty
monster was evolved from an alien life form.
My mothership was destroyed in the last level
and all my comrades kicked the bucket.
This level seems hopeless because none of my
weapons seems to work to kill this beast
and it is so powerful that only one shot kills me.
Is this the end of the game or can one go
further from here ?

If this is the easy level I would
hate to try the medium or hard levels.

It seems there is no hope.

Any recommendations ?

shoot the club-like arm, til it falls off. Then grab it and shoot him w/
it. Dodge a lot - use the alcove to avoid getting hit when he shoots at
you. You are very close to the end. After you kill him, you'll have some
interesting low grav jumps to make. You're getting closer.

I have a recomendation. Keep the damn story to yourself. Nice way to ruin it

New to this group but not to this world.
On this Earth I am in my 50th year.

I was finally able after repeated tries
to get into the life boat only to find
myself adrift light-years from anywhere.
It seems Atari will have to have a sequel
to Unreal2 Awakening so that the game can
continue on. I see a great possibility to
install 10GB of game onto your heard drive
and have enough to play a year of games.

I find Unreal2 to be great fun when played
in Easy mode but in normal mode I never get far
before I die and it gets very frustrating to me.
That monster with the knife blades for fingers
always makes short work of me.
Maybe you can tell me his weak spot so I can
get past him and on with the game in normal mode.

I found the shotgun deals with him very quickly.
First a secondary shot to make him round around blinded, and then BAM BAM
BAM primary fire close range :)

Btw it's a skaarj ...

Oh, OK, A skaarj...

I do not know if I have a shotgun yet but I certainly will
try it if I do.
Those little four armed beasties sap most my energy
as they shoot me from the cliffs and by the time I
reach the gap in the cliff I find three or four
of those skaarj animals are attacking me.
This is the point I am stuck at right now.

Is there one weapon best to use for most of the game ?

I find that little plasma pistol that seems to have
infinite energy great for handling the little pests
without depleting my ammunition.
I had great fun splatting those little beetles
skittering about when I first started.
Sort of like a shooting gallery.
You do not see shooting galleries much today
but they used to be popular at the circuses
and fairs and would shoot 22 short cartridges.

I have not figured out what those alien lances
are good for. I will try them out but they have
no umph whatsoever.

Is there anyway to open up the boxes you see all around ?

Is there any way to get rid of the pesky space goat
that tries to damage the ship ?
I have no weapons when I am on the ship so
I can not get rid of that dangerous old goat.

Sometimes I think more possibilities are
in order for this game. Like in the Game
Devastation where you can interact with
some of the little items around you.

I can see games like this game Unreal2 has great potential.

It is a wonderful way to keep yourself occupied.

It is possible to wonder about the ship and open
lockers and things like that but you can not interact
with anything inside the various doors you can open.
It would be nice to grab a weapon and go after
that space goat.

When you first start the game there is a comrad
being killed by one of those nasty four armed devils
and he is just visible beneath a partially opened door.
Is it possible to save this character or is he dead meat
no matter what you do.
Nothing I can do will seem to save him.

Alternatively pull out the flamethrower and track him with it. It eats ammo
like nobody's business but if you're not short of napalm it's fun to watch
them run around screaming before they expire >D

None whatsoever. It's a story element, and Unreal 2 has a completely linear
story. Aside from your own death everything is a part of the story and
there's nothing you can do to change it. That includes saving *spoiler* just
before you wind up on the Dorian Gray.

Again, story element, and you can't do anything about it.

A. Because it breaks the logical sequence of discussion.
Q. Why is top-posting bad?

That's my guess, coz you only wanted to have people with problems to

what about the people knowing the solutions to the problems? ;-)

Yes, Earth is not exactly the centre of the multiverse.

Yes, but only if there's a propper story.

Try harder then.

Unfortunately, I can't. On my machine (PII@350Mhz) playing Unreal 2
is impossible.

A small planet orbiting a star called Betelgeuse.
I hitched a ride here a long time ago.
I am waiting for a Voogon Constructer fleet
to give me a lift outta here.

Can't wait for additional mission packs for this game.
I'd like to know where I am going in this tiny craft.

You can only try so hard before you need to be a god or something.
In real life you only need to die once and the game is all over.

I finally got past them.
If I took them on only one at a time by sneaking around corners
I was able to succeed using the CAR.

That is terrible but just wait.
The next machine you get might be a 2.2 GHz
with a Latest Nvidia card
Something to dream about.

Do you speak German ?
My last name is German but I was born and raised in the US.
Due to circumstances beyond my control I was never able
to learn any language but english and that not too well.

Well, this is the very newsgroup I started usenet with. It has always
been the friendliest newsgroup of all, although we are playing the
the most brutal game (ok, not anymore). There were times when half of
the NG were just ranting, running test-threads or telling jokes. I
always loved reading (and writing) here.

I remember, when I first tried to get past the 20 (or so) Skaarj, I
always ran out of ammo and got killed. In such situations one is
tempted to cheat, but I didn't, I knew there was a way and finally I
did it.

25 years ago I nearly did; I only suvived due to sheer luck and the
outstanding teamwork and abilities of 3 doctors.

It's always a question of practice, practice and again practice.

Not this year, thou. There's no (real!) need and therefore no money
for such a thing. Maybe next year.

Yeah, I really do hope so. It's my mothertongue after all. ;-)

Pity. ;-D

I alway enjoyed to be able to talk to people all over the world by
speaking their language. Without speaking English I would never have
met all those fine people of my clan (unfortunately just virtually,
most of them live in the US) or of this newsgroup. If you'd like to
learn a foreign language try Spanish for it is not too difficult
(compared to German or French for example).

THANK-you Feldrew for the assistance.

Sorry the others didn't have the self-discipline to stop reading so they
wouldn't spoil the game for THEMSELVES!
They are just like lawers blaming others for their own decisions!
Some people just gotta vent on others.
If they were stuck there, they'ed be asking too.
Sad really. Welcome the new millennium of blaming others and never
accepting responsibility for yourself!
