Impressions from playing the cracked beta vs shitty AIs: It's very very similar to SC1. They removed a lot of the crazy overpowered crap from the earlier gameplay vids. Terran have cool music. There's a crapload of harassment units and spells. Reapers are annoying as fuck. Orange crystal nodes are stupid. Zerg units look cool. Protoss is still a kiddie race. Slightly more map style variation. Hmm, that's all I can think of. Agree/disagree?

Agree/disagree? I've got the official beta, so I haven't played the AI. It's quite slow. It's pretty They still haven't stacked minerals Supply depots that sink into the ground are cool Reapers mean the end of bunkering up early in the game, so not altogether a bad thing. Thor units look impressive. I still prefer Broodwar though. Tom

How's the new battle.net? It has an in-game contact list like Steam, not so? Does it have selectable region gateways or does it autodetect?

No idea what Steam is so I can't help you there. Tom

It better have selectable regions, otherwise half the people I know won't get to experience the awesome power that is me.

I call some massive shenanigans.

Agree/disagree? How about built command queing (like the ones found on WarCraft), or is it something that is still non-existence in SC II? -- Steven Ung

No selectable gateways, supposedly won't be at launch either, will be patched in later post-release together with the awesome totally-new-for-2010 feature known as chat channels. If you're in the beta and want to play with US peeps, make sure to sign up with US as your locale (it will work ok without any proxy magix even if you're an euro in reality).

Agree/disagree? I don't know if it's just the early metagame or what, but SC2 seems very "all-in". You lose a battle, you lose the game, since due to the new gay mechanics the defender's advantage is almost non-existant. I also feel the Tier 1.5 units (roaches/Marauders) are ridiculously strong for what they are and end up dictating the early gameplay too much with their presence. There's not that much variation in BOs currently, hopefully that changes as the game evolves & gets patched. Stalkers are made of paper and fucking suck. Templar tech being split to two buildings sucks cock. Storm is useless, looks cool but does like 5 damage and hits in an area smaller than the nail of my thumb :v. Archons are terrible and not good against anything, (then again so are ultras too). Toss anti-air sucks fucking cocks. Chrono boost is super cool. So is that Sentry thingy with its forcefield thing. Colossus is pretty neat except gets raped pretty easily if you're not careful. Nerf immortals and move them to the gateway instead of robo plz kthx. Also, this thing barely fucking runs on my computer. I'm playing with everything way down :v

Then again I'm playing on (almost) max settings.

I play with most settings on low :V. 1v1 games play just fine for me, but in some 2v2s and FFAs (lol) when there's lot's of shit going on (hello 200 food zerg army vs a 200 food toss one with billions of storms and other shit going off) I get like 5 fps and have to wonder where the fuck my army disappeared once the shitstorm is over.
