No, I had set the display adjuster to the highest setting, but the screen is still to dark. So, I have to set the monitor contrast and brightness to the highest setting. There is a setting that can be done in Quake, so the monitor settings will not have to be reset. Don't you think that designers are totally stupid? What purpose is to make a game to dark and EVERYBODY is trying to make it brighter, MUCH brighter. It's pure idiocy. Who plays these games SO DARK? I love these games but... QW was to dark, q2 to dark, q3 is OK, doom is FUKEN dark and Q4 is FUKEN TO DARK as well. Q5 going to be all black. Than will be fun huh? I can understand that some places could be darker and that makes a sense, but in multiplayer EVERYTHING SO DARK??? I would let these guys to play that game on their settings for couple weeks 12 hours per day and than let them design again for US, not for them. It's unbelievable that these guys seem to be able to make brilliant game engine and be so stupid to make it nearly unusable! Why they are employing such idiots, if some decent people do make patches like for Q2 and THAN the game is playable and beautiful. Some idiot took the money for make it to dark and some poor, clever dude made patch to fix it and to make it playable. Sorry but that darkenes is so annoying and stupid.

I don't see Q4 MP as dark. SP, yes, but that's intentional, for the atmosphere. With my current monitor as well as my previous monitor that issue ceased to be. I think the too (!!) dark issue is that lots of people have crappy monitors... or they don't know how to properly adjust them nothing to do with the games themselves. That said, one can hide a lot of shortcuts the game developers make with dark environments. When everything is brightly lit you notice low-res textures and low-poly models a lot more. -- "I did not have misleading relations with those facts" George W Steve ¤»Inglo«¤ www.inglostadt.com

What the hell is wrong with these programmers they didn't provide a brightness adjustment to OUR liking?????????????????????????????????? Maybe someone has a 'crappy monitor' (Mine is ViewSonic 19' CRT P95f+ where I have a button to brighten up the screen) but... but if some clever guy is FIXING Quake 2, which is evidently fucked up by ID Software, that is the truth. That's not my imagination or 'crappy monitor' excuse. That is a huge fuckup and things like these should be called by real names. And the real name is poor programming. Just compare Q3A to Q4 in a multi player. Progress? Hardly. Rather backwards. Better game engine, maybe but the rest - crap graphics and sound but needs badly much faster computer! For what? For running these crappy graphics? What Real advantage has Q4 over other games? At least ID made Q3A with great attention to game playability, demo was for few months to test and to listen to comments of best players. Result - great game. Q4 - new, crappy game, again to dark. Boys are trying to get it brighter! No one has learned from Q3A? If no one will say nothing, they will think that we are happy with that. I'm definitely not happy with Q4. They have to release some serious Point Release, if we will be bitching a lot. Bitching motivates them. Prising them will do nothing and no progress will be made. They made a lot of $'s and we are not happy with their product. That's why guy is asking, why that fricken game is so dark? He has a crappy monitor? Or rather the game has crappy adjustments? Be honest and say it loud. Q4 is MUCH to dark and what Raven is going to do about it?
