Since Tom's had to work, I shall host the co-op server instead :)

Midnight UK time (I'm not sure if the US has switched to daylight savings
yet so it's either 6 or 7pm EST)
IP: 81.76.96.196

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bfg) ;)

Let's slaughter some Stroggs!

EB, wondering.....how's your xDSL connection been holding up
in terms of a dedicated server? How many players can you
reasonably host?

Saw Margolis' response to one previous query and he cited the
fact that his cable connnection wouldn't be ideal to host any
team fragging...and at most would prolly max out after 6 or
so players. (ahhh how the memories of "Killers House" come
back to me which was Rail Only and maxed out at 6!)

Just curious. I too have cable, but like Margolis my uplink is
capped at 256, but my downlink is raging at 3.2Meg. ;-P
Unfortunately it's the uplink bandwidth that a server needs
most to provide good gameplay.

Anyway....let me know. Why? Well if a 256K uplink can
reasonably host something acceptable to a few players I can
prolly set up a server too for those "can't get enuff fraggers".

Foo, 9pm here (02UT) and no server. Was I too late? US residents change
your clock ahead 1 hour after 2am.

Hmm. I don't see it either. 0300 GMT. I'll bet EB had to reboot and lost his
IP. Can that be controlled in msipcfg?

Best,
Tom

Actually I took it down cause it was lagging too much; tested it and it just
wasn't behaving tonight. Sorry all :(

Well so far I've only had about 4 at once on the server and it's been pretty
smooth (till tonight when it was being problematic with just one!), so it
hasn't been under any great stress.

6-8 is OK for a reasonable beatdown, at any rate. I've got my maxclients at
24 for DM and CTF, but I doubt I'll ever get that many.

Should be fine for 6-8, at any 'rate' (25000 *runs!*). Mine's 256k upstream
also.
