I re-read the Quaketalk, and noticed that they said there would be
DRAGONS!!! I can't immagine how cool this would look!!Different species,
I hope.. I can just see myself charging Tiamat atop a horse..
 :)

Hey.. here's another idea.. if you are a spellcaster, you could have
a familiar!! like a black panther or a crow or somthing.. perhaps you
could switch to it's view via magic and get a bird's eye view of the
terrain...

Guys, guys, guys... you are getting way too complicated here. The fun of Doom
was in it's simplicity. What spoiled System Shock for everyone was that it
tried to do too much, so it was too complicated to even be fun. Not to
mention that too much stuff going on will slow down the framerate output.

Absolutely! I don't think Quake is intended to be the latest version of
AD&D! I for one wouldn't want it to be. Sure, have a few simple spells
and such to promote the 'God' feeling, but I wouldn't want to have to
keep track of dozens of spells, classes, & armor classes. It seems that
a lot of people want to see all sorts of D&D stuff brought into Quake
and I just don't think it's going to happen (or at least I hope not :)

For people who want that, probably the best you can hope for is that
someone will make an AD&D version of Quake after it's released. I've
heard that Quake will be completely configurable, so maybe it'll be
possible. Who knows?

I keep reading all these posts about trying to make Quake like D&D or
something. Please, id, ignore these requests! I'd rather see something new
and original. If I want to play Dungeon and Dragons, then I'll play Dungeons
and Dragons the old way, were my imagination can do what it will.

Does anyone remember the Catacomb series? Yeah, I know, it's kind of old, but
it's part of Doom's heritage, and hence part of Quake's heritage as well.
Anyway, for old time's sake I played though Catacomb Abyss a week ago. One
thing that I noticed is that it feels very *satisfying* having demon-killing
fileballs coming out of your hands. Plasma rifles are okay, and shotguns used
at close range are also close, but I jsut felt that none of the Doom weapons
gave that same ultra-cool effect as the magic missiles of Catacomb.

Now if you'll excuse me, I think I might just play Commander Keen 1 for a while
;)
