Hmmm. Got winzip? Somewhere in the .pak files, there are loads of
scripts. Some with aliases. There are also .cfg's that the dev team used.
most of us learned of this one in the first few weeks that the "shareware
demo" was out. By the time Quake Full version was released, lots of us
already had our .cfg's the way we wanted em :) Looking... but I know I
hadn't created any aliases myself. I will look for all the command and cvar
lists I've collected.
Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! lookee what i've found... QUAKE... Level Master V :)
bounty hunter DID write some aliases, so you'll have some examples to work
from.
Do you get the ng alt.binaries.games.quake ? If so, that's a good place
to pop a little zip file to.
sample:

alias mn3 "play misc/menu3.wav"
startdemos "jizz7" "jizz14" "solo4"
// Circle Strafe - use with Forward
alias +cs_r "cl_forwardspeed 180.000000;+moveright;+left"
alias -cs_r "cl_forwardspeed 425.000000;-moveright;-left"
alias +cs_l "cl_forwardspeed 180.000000;+moveleft;+right"
alias -cs_l "cl_forwardspeed 425.000000;-moveleft;-right"
