Well, I finally got to play MKII today. The arcade at my school
(Carnegie Mellon) just got it it. I have to say that I was pretty
impressed. The gameplay it totally different from the play of the
original. The graphics are no longer "digitized", but are still
incredible. When I say digitized, I mean the graphics do not look as
though they are from film footage of real actors. The machine must have
been set on "impossible" level, because I couldn't get past Liu Kang,
the second match. The matches were in the same order every time.
Strange. I fought Kung Lao, then Liu Kang. My favorite character so
far are Johnny Cage (I love kis new arching shot) and Reptile (The
invisibility is useful and the fatality is hilarious). Shang Tsung is
also a good character. I figured out a new move for him. In the
recently posted MKII FAQ, the flaming skulls were listed as BACK - BACK
- HIGH PUNCH. This is correct. There is also a way to shoot multiple
skulls (I think two skulls are shot). Press BACK - BACK - BACK -
FORWARD - FORWARD - HIGH PUNCH. I'm not positive about this, but I think
this is the correct move. I'll post more when I get some more quarters
and some more spare time.

In response to Shang Tsung's multiple fireballs - two back + HIGH PUNCH will get you one fireball, two back - forward + HIGH PUNCH will get you two fireballs, and two back - two forward + HIGH PUNCH gets you three. I tried to find a move for four fireballs, but I don't think it exists... The three fireballs do quite a lot of damage especially when your opponent jumps and you hit them three times in the air, just like in the original MK with Shang Tsung. He is quickly becoming my favorite character. Richard

I played Shang a little bit, and his skulls are as follows: back back high punch for 1 back back forward high punch for 2 and back back forward forward high punch for the almighty 3
