I can't get DUKE to run with KALI95. It gets to the "Waiting for master to
choose level" message and then it stops. When I exit out, KALI is frozen.

HELP!

..WHIPLASH!

I don't use it, but have it on good authority from many that the
Kali95 beta sucks for playing Duke. Get and use the DOS Kali if
possible. Playing with Kali95 is possible, but not as easy or as
frequent as with DOS Kali, AFAIK

Kali95 will run Duke3d, I've done it many times now. I'm pretty sure that it
will even let you hook up to Dos kali users (unless the guy I was playing the
other day was lying about having 1.2t, and why would he?).
The key seems to be to get the latest kali95, which is 95a1. Came out
about 2 weeks ago.

Here's a question. Duke has some stupid hardware conflict with my sound
card (DMA channel is the source of this, the instructions say), if I try to
play it in Win95. I have temporarily solved that problem by selecting "Sound
FX: none" in setup. The music still works. Obviously I want to change the
hardware itself, but I'm not sure what else might be using DMA 1 and it's very
difficult to discover this thru diagnostic software. Anyone know what jumpers
I need to change? btw Duke instructions say *don't* move your sound
card...move the other conflicting hardware.
I like Duke, but I think this problem is outrageous. And before
anyone attempts to flame me for saying so, Mech2 and Quake have no problems
with Win95 as far as sound card conflicts go . . .

Right-click "My Computer" or whatever you've renamed it, and select "Properties".
Select "Device Manager" and make sure that "Computer" is highlighted, then
press the "Properties" button. Now select "Direct Memory Access" and it will
show you all DMA assignments for your whole computer. Select "IRQ" to see
all IRQ assignments for your whole computer. It also shows you I/O and
Memory assignments for your whole computer.
