Hi there hoping someone can help me. If I try to change the anti-aliasing levels in the advanced options, it appears to make no difference in the games whatsoever. Even if I have it set at 16x (not that I want to run the game at 16x), there is no difference and all the lines in the games are still jaggy. I have a Radeon 9800 pro, and card settings for anti-aliasing are set to Application preference. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

You are aware Doom 3 must be restarted for AA settings to take effect? (Make sure you click 'Apply' in the graphics settings too) The 9800 Pro doesn't support 8x and 16x AA AA will slow down your gameplay considerably!!!!!!! I too use a 9800 Pro for Doom 3, and performance is good...... ~56fps in the timedemo (High Settings @ 800*600). I really don't see AA as being a necessary part of Doom 3's graphics. You should just leave your remaining power (if any) for the more chatoic bits in game. I am nearly always running the game at 60fps, with frequent drops to ~40fps... but that's still pretty damn good? Oh, and I'm using Omega's 2.6.25a Drivers, which are based on the ATI Catalyst 5.4 Hope this helps?!

Isn't it true that the higher the resolution, the less likely it is that AA will impact it? AA is a big impact on framerates - take the amount of work required to render a 1600x1200, and multiply it by four. The only case where AA will minimally impact performace is with an optimized renderer that only calculates AA on edges. (But there will still be a performance hit.)

Sorry about that - I probably wasn't clear. I didn't mean impact on frame rates, but impact on the quality of the scene -. In other words, if you're running at low res, AA will make the low res graphics look much better. But if you're running at high res, it is less likely to make the scene look better, as you're already seeing an improved picture based on the higher resolution. In other words, the higher the resolution, the less likely it is that you would need to have AA on at all... Correct me if I'm wrong...
