Waiting for DOOM and random notes

ARRGH! Here I sit at my computer, pondering the fate of the universe and
wondering where in the Planet of Hell my copy of Reg. DOOM is. "The check
cleard on Dec. 31" the bank says. "What is this 'DOOM', is it a drug or
something?" the postman says, noticing my wild-eyed stare as I ask hem again
if he has it yet. "Beep-Beep-Beep" ID's customer service number says when I
try to call. " " says anyone at ID I've tried to email. All in all I'm
starting to lose my mind (some would argue that this has already occured).

One nice thing about not having my Reg. DOOM yet, I have gotten to know the
maps for "Knee Deep In The Dead" quite well.

Have you ever noticed that if you get it just right, you can blow up the Imp's
fireballs with the shotgun? I assume that you might be able to do it with the
other guns, but I ussually play with just the shotgun, save for a few really
choice rocket shots (MUHAHAHAHAH!).

Have you ever blown a (wipe that smirk off your face, pervert! :) ) bad guy
out of a window with the rocket launcher? Kinda funny, actually.

Well, enouph of this new thread (for you threaded news readers...). Off to
say mean and vicious things about Weasely, er, Wesley Crusher...

That's a new one on me. I usually strafe out of the way, it's a little safer.
Wait till you try the guy on the secret level of episode 3. In my opinion
that is the toughest character in the game anywhere... he shoots rockets but
they are extremely fast, nearly impossible to dodge long enough to poud the guy.

Wait till you see the full version. Using the BFG is a lot of fun.... I like
to turn on the god mode cheat, waltz into a huge room full of guys, draw
them all out and hide in a corner or recessed panel. Then let off a shot --
BOOM... bodies everywhere. Maybe 20 guys lying on the ground, and the
guy that was standing in front of you at the time gets blown to the far
wall before exploding. Barrels that are 50 feet away explode...
Tons of fun...

The BFG is powerfull enough to kill those guys at the end of the first
game with one single shot each in case you're curious about it.

Big flipping grins from the Big flipping gun....

A cold, stale wind blows through the air. Clutching my massive shotgun,
sweat falling down my face like a waterfall, I grimly run into the next
room. Four zombie-like creatures with refuse dripping off their carcasses
turn around, howling for my blood. Casually, I reach for my chain gun,
then with a war cry, press the trigger down for several seconds as my
former-companions' bodies fly apart, splattering against the wall behind
them. The green toxic-waste that flows in trenches on both sides of the
precipice on which I stand turns an ugly brownish color, mixing with the
mutant blood of my old friends.
Wiping the sweat off my brow, I check my inventory. Chainsaw?
Maybe I should go find some meat or something. No. I'd better stick with
the shotgun, it seems to crack the most pate. I prepare to trade weapons
when I hear a shriek above me. Out of nowhere, two imps have smashed
through a pile of offal and now stand on an elevated platform above me.
Even from this distance, the flickering lights illuminate the fresh saliva
which drips from their gaping maws. Tearing back their claws in fury,
they simultaneously summon balls of pure energy and hurl them at me.
Moments after they have left the imps' paws, the energy spheres burst into
flames, making a loud, tumultuous noise.
Cursing, I roll to one side and feel the heat of the explosion
behind me, narrowly miss roasting my body into a crisped carcass. Taking
out the rocket launcher, my coveted weapon, and screaming, "Eat death, you
abiogenic mutations!" as loud as I can, I pull the trigger and let a
rocket go flying towards my leering victims.
The imps, albeit stupid, have very good instincts, and they both
manage to avoid the projectile. Cursing, I prepare to fire another
volley when suddenly, the rocket smashes into a waiting barrel of toxic waste
which bursts into orange flames, roasting my two nemesi into hardened
corspes. Screaming, and shrieking in stark pain, the imps fall off the
precipice and land, face first, in a river of toxic acid, two stories
below them.
"Don't cross me, imps," I sneer, pointing a bloody hand at the
writhing, lifeless bodies. "Or I'll break you!" Knowing that a pink
muncher awaits me in the next room, I rev up my chainsaw and prepare to...
find some meat.

Sorry if some people were offended by that account (for whatever
reason). It was in response to the post about blowing a soldier out of a
window with a rocket launcher.

Wait, I didn't mean to imply that I go around TRYING to knock Imp fireballs
out of the air, just that I've seen it happen (enemy projectile weapons have a
definate straight-line path, and lining up on it is nearly impossible to do on
purpose). Usually I dodge when I can.

BTW: I've been messing around with the sounds in DOOM lately. I've done the
following replacements (ammusing and helpful!)

Action Sound
---------------------------+----------------------------------------------
When you pick up a weapon | Ash from 'Army of Darkness' saying "Groovy"
When you fall | Homer Simpson "Doh!"
When enemies get hit (not | Dennis Leary "F*ck!"
     killed) |
When you get hit | Dennis Leary "Sh*t!"
When you die | Hudson from 'Aliens' "Game over, man!"

What's really cool is killing one of the big uglies at the top of
a stairway. If you do it just right, he keels over and bumps all
the way down the stairs. Real cool...
